Proximum seeks to do something real.
Not every project needs a token; nor a truly decentralized network — but some do.
Bitcoin and Bittensor both required native tokens and powerful, truly decentralized communities to achieve their mission and revolutionize the world.
Proximum aims to join their ranks as a foundational crypto protocol to secure humanity’s future.
We’re techno optimists, but realists.
If our systems do not augment physics, but supplant it — then humanity loses its way. We diverge from reality and oppose the divine law that holds us together.
We do not want this future.
We want a better future.
We want a future where:
Fiat money dies, hard money rises
Our economy is onchain and peer-to-peer
Humans go to Mars and are multi-planetary
Robots fill the earth and work for human flourishing
We are divine image-bearers exercising dominion
Proximum seeks a grounded digital reality to secure this future — our future.
To secure this brilliant future, we must tether the digital to the physical.
We must:
know what’s real
act on what’s real
Proximum achieves this through provable location.
Proximum is an open protocol for proving the location of any device.
Open, not a closed ecosystem like Airtags.
Proving location, not just measuring it like GPS.
On any connected device, not just custom hardware.
This is a new paradigm for:
digital authentication (know what's real)
digital consensus (act on what's real)
With provable location, we can authenticate users and devices online and we can secure blockchain protocols with spacetime-weighted voting.
Let’s take a closer look at each of these applications.
Location is the missing authenticity layer in our digital interactions.
Although location intelligence is a $25B market, location remains easy to fake (50M downloads of Android app to spoof GPS).
With provable location, Proximum enables authentication for:
DePINs
Decentralized IDs
Compliance
Content
Insurance claims
Advertising
Secure logins
Existing blockchain security mechanisms are costly, centralized, and risky.
Costly: proof-of-stake security is based on capital at risk. At equilibrium, that risk means the yield must include a risk premium and exceed the risk-free rate. This is very costly for protocols with billions staked, many spend a lot on security. Classic proof-of-work security mechanisms are notoriously expensive as well.
Centralized: even our best protocols — such as Bitcoin and Ethereum — now face Nakamoto coefficients of <5. We need more decentralization to build credibly neutral systems that last for decades or centuries.
Risky: the rise of Eigenlayer signals the need for modular security alternatives. But we think physics provides a stronger foundation than complex, semi-circular economic incentives.
Proximum is building an alternative. By securing blockchains via spacetime-weighted voting, we can achieve:
Low cost — it is not expensive to maintain a unique key pair at a unique location.
True decentralization — physical separation is best axis of decentralization.
High security — to conquer the network, one would have to conquer the world.
Like Bitcoin, there is beauty in simplicity and basis in physics.
tl;dr: Proximum uses the speed of light and math to verify the location of participants.
We can then rely on decentralization for crypto security and define consensus as the vote of the majority of spacetime.
Importantly, Proximum is communication channel agnostic. In other words, the network does not care if participants are on UDP over traditional internet, wifi, laser, radio etc.
However, Proximum can and likely will incentivize lower latency devices over time (cf. Bitcoin difficulty adjustment). This can increase location proof accuracy and protocol utility (eg, more auth use cases, better decentralization for security).
We see the stakes rise for humanity with every powerful technological innovation.
Money, gunpowder, fission, and silicon — all can build or destroy.
At the end of this Fourth Turning, we are seeing simultaneous and powerful technology breakthroughs.
Provable location can:
leverage billions of existing IoT & BLE/UWB devices
secure & authenticate robotic systems
mitigate AI deepfakes
decentralize & secure crypto systems
create scalable infrastructure for local-to-interplanetary commerce
The time is now for Proximum.
We need a grounded digital reality to know what is real and to act on it.
We believe Proximum is a massive opportunity to secure a better future for our digital world.
We’re thrilled to build it.
