So the time has come where NFT’s are apart of every Artist rollout. *Tony Stark eye roll. Ive been wanting to speak on web3, crypto, nfts, daos, ect. for a while now so why not. Also lemme say this early, I’m not mad at anybody gettin to the money. I get it. I got the money a while ago so my purpose changed tis all. My goal is to explain the difference between Masego and Masego and then we’ll talk about whats happening in those 2 worlds.
Let’s start with Masego the Celebrity. He’s an influencer. Has cultural equity, Makes songs/albums, releases them, markets them, performs them. He takes pictures, wears cool clothes, make appearances, make statements, endorses things. People want to colab with him or date him or be his friend. (according to twitter)
Thats pretty much the circuit of an artist. If thats all I focused on, then an NFT with a jazzy panther or whatever they’d assign to me, makes sense and Id market It and say “we’re goin to the moon” like my peers.
But I’m too nerdy for that. Id love to troll and pretend like I haven’t been hip to all this but, that’d be a disservice to the other things im working on.
So now for Masego. He’s been invested in crypto coming on 2 years now. He has various properties across the U.S that he’s turning into museums themed around his animated films. He sold an NFT off market for 25 eth of one of those animations. He’s worn sweaters with pictures of his animations at shows while performing as Masego. He thought of having a Dao named Tadao, and kept quiet when twitter, and discord users pitched him the same name. He’s been in FWB and Handshake Discord learning crypto, NFT’s, Taxes, Metaverse, web3 for months. He’s been approached by most of the companies offering social tokens and creator coins. He’s working on a musician’s video game on Unreal engine. He’s working on 3 recipe books/nfts based around his previous and future albums. He’s had for over a year now Pink Polo 2 as an NFT. 6 new songs. He has the score to his Hayou Miyazaki styled film minted. 7 new songs. He’s been on Audius thanks to crypto hedge fund founder and genius Stephen Mckie. And while we’re name dropping, Rozwell put him in a twitter space to discuss the future of artists and NFTS. Jesse Boykins got him in FWB to meet Derek G and Matthew Chaim, and Jsloss and a lot of the folks doing amazing things in the web3 space. Valerie, Vsnaire, Sirsu have been great sound boards in educating him on all things web3 and the digital diaspora. He’s written 3 feel good fantasy books back in 2020, an 8 episode podcast and has land in Ghana gifted from Tastemakers. He’s doin a bit more than singing and smiling.

And also I wanna note, I love being Masego, but with fame and mass marketing theres no room for these deeper layers of me. You have to speak to the masses and the masses don’t read web3 blog posts. in order to remain sane, I kind of have to treat it like a video game with various missions. So like that clip above, Masego has the minimal amount of my attention, because I have far greater things planned than being a celebrity. And some of those speak-to-the-masses, famous guy moments will appear but know the difference between Masego and Masego.
