Being a crypto-native learning hub, L2 Learn also functions as a DID platform. DID, which stands for decentralized identifier, is a new digital pseudonymous identifier powered by blockchain technology. Think of DIDs as being similar to passports or driving licenses, but issued and verified without the need for third-party intermediaries. The user, via their crypto wallet, solely manages these identifiers, distinguishing them from traditional centralized ID systems.
Central to the DID system are SBTs or soulbound tokens, which are a special type of NFT (non-fungible token) that become non-transferable once sent to a wallet. They are ideal for representing a holder’s identity and credentials in a decentralized manner. For instance, SBTs can represent one’s educational background, career history, medical records, or participation in a DAO, giving the holder the power to confirm their identity to another entity via their wallet.
Being passionate advocates for decentralized ID technology, the Pheasant team has integrated the DID and SBT features into L2 Learn. After completing a course, you can mint an SBT representing your academic accomplishment on the platform. This token will be transferred to your wallet, becoming part of your digital pseudonymous identity.
As long as your wallet is linked to L2 Learn during sign-up, you can mint SBTs across all networks supported by the Pheasant Network, such as Ethereum, Optimism, Arbitrum, Base and in the future Polygon PoS, Scroll, zkSync, Linea, Polygon zkEVM, Taiko, Mode, X1 and Mantle.
