Subject: Grants Accountability and DAO Committee Selection Process Continue Amid Grants Program Pause

Decentraland DAO Community is amid a series of elections, as the DAO enters into the first weeks of a pause in the Community Grants Program. Most notably, the process to select a new DAO Committee members is ongoing, following rejection of votes to select a new DAO Committee Member via a process involving a governance proposal for each candidate. The process is being reformed and will be launched later this month, and include a single governance proposal with all candidates on it. Meanwhile, The process to establish a grants oversight committee is also advancing, as Grant Support Squad and Community Members are currently discussing the best name for this committee.

Discussions Continue Over DAO Committee Election Process

Since the final stage to select a new DAO Committee Member has stalled, and with the expressing need for another instance to have a final resolution, a #🗳️dao-committee-elections channel was created in the DAO Discord, to consolidate the discussions around the process for removing and adding DAO Committee members and to centralize questions for candidates in an asynchronous manner.

Meanwhile, the Draft proposal to extend the DAO Committee from 3 to 5 members has passed with broad support and it's on track to be promoted as Binding Governance Proposal; and a Draft Proposal to Redirect NAME minting fees to the DAO has been submitted a few days ago.

Finally, the Bidding and Tendering Flow proposal has been promoted to a Binding Governance Proposal and is on track with a broad initial support.

DAO COMMITTEE ELECTION PROPOSALS

Two Final Grants Approved Before Program Pause

A Tier 5 Grant for $120K WonderMine Multiplayer and Feature Enhancements has passed with broad support; as well as the Tier 5 Grant for $120K that has been submitted on December 29th for the Development of Exodus: Goodbye World. The proposals are the final two submitted before the December 31 passage deadline. The Community Grants Program is now paused, and will resume on February 28th.

Town Hall - January 12, 2023
