In physics, a concept about singularity could be simplified as a point that exists in a hypothesis but does not in the physical world. Gamow proposed the Big Bang theory that the universe was formed after the big bang of an infinitely dense and extremely hot "singularity" 10 billion years ago. The story of our universe begins with a singularity. When looking back along the time, we deconstruct the physical world to the ultimate level, point, which could be used to build up the infinite imagination of the virtual metaverse.
WHAT IS P01NT?
P01NT is a new form of IRL-metaverse exhibition, which is collectively curated, controlled, and owned by the holders of its NFT collection. As the first major project launched by BCA Labs, P01NT is inviting galleries, museums, NFT communities and DAOs to participate in this experiment and break the boundaries of the audience, curators and sponsors of an exhibition with NFT for the first time in the history of art.
Through this comprehensive and artistic experiment, we hope to explore a new power structure in the traditional gallery system and its relationship with the display of art within the limited space, time and attention.
By holding a P01NT NFT(https://p01nt.co/)**, anyone is entitled to decide what is showcased at the coordinates of a P01NT screen in the exhibition. Individually corresponding to a coordinate of the display screen, all 4,942 unique P01NT NFTs are divided into six different TYPEs, varied in numbers and levels. Each TYPE corresponds to a specific shape; construct a game between numbers and shapes together.
Within a period of 100 days, P01NTs from adjacent coordinates can be freely combined. Holders will have the right to display their own collected or created NFTs in the corresponding coordinates, separately or integrated into a larger screen. These coordinates will eventually correspond to the screens of a 100-day exhibition at BCA Gallery, No.117 Xianggang Road, Huangpu, Shanghai, China, as well as metaverse space on Cryptovoxels and Sandbox.
All the dynamics of transactions will be recorded on-chain and generated into a piece of artwork on the 100th day of the exhibition. Collectors' every decision lies in the precisely positioned coordinate; every display unit's renewal makes the entire work more remarkable and meaningful.
WHY P01NT?
The post-pandemic era gradually blurs the boundary between reality and the virtual world; the outline of people's spiritual paradise, the metaverse, becomes apparent. Crypto art is rewriting a new chapter of art history by using blockchain as a medium. The most euphoric sound is ethereal, while the most beautiful image is illusory. Without the limitation of a specific type of media, art could create infinite aesthetic value. At this very moment, digital art is creating endless possibilities of development with strong momentum.
By the name of P01NT, the exhibition guides the viewer into a journey tracing back to feel the beauty of "invisible" digital art. Instead of presenting the works in the traditional linear logic of time, P01NT establishes a connection between the virtual world and the physical space based on mathematical philosophy and presents the invisible digital artworks in a scenario way.
The exhibition narrative is divided into three chapters based on Kandinsky's abstract art rules — —
Point: the Beginning of the Universe;
Line: Infinite possibilities of Shape;
Plane: Formless Shape.
The entire exhibition takes 1 P01NT as the primary display unit, deconstructs the "invisible" form of digital art, and gives the basic elements of point, line and plane a scene-like visual presentation. Science and art, sense and perception contribute to the beauty of balance between collision and blend.
This experimental exploration of artistic power will see the new explorers of the crypto-native community integrate with the traditional art world of collectors, galleries, auction houses, and art museums in a zeitgeist symmetry and a unique blend of digital identities.
As we collectively create, control and own this exhibition through our digital identities, NFT will present this unpredictable experiment as a connected form.
