OpBNB: The odyssey from testnet to mainnet

On September 13, 2023, BNB Chain announced the launch of its Layer 2 network, opBNB, which is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and based on the Optimism OP Stack. This launch aims to provide more cost-effective gas fees for blockchain projects. OpBNB is a Layer 2 solution built on top of the BNB Chain ecosystem. It underwent extensive testing, during which no major issues were found, leading to its public launch.

  • Over 35 million on-chain transactions processed.

  • Connection to 435,972 unique wallet addresses.

  • Deployment of more than 150 decentralized applications (dApps) on the Testnet.

• Testnet demonstrated outstanding processing performance with fast block times, high daily block processing, and a significant transaction volume.

Road to Mainnet

OpBNB focused on scalability and security, meeting key criteria before the Mainnet launch:

• Implementing a High Availability (HA) solution to prevent a single point of failure.

• Achieving a peak of 4,000 transactions per second (TPS).

• Conducting stress testing to assess performance and scalability.

• Ensuring reduced gas costs with an average of 0.2 gwei.

• Ongoing internal and external security audits to enhance infrastructure security.

• OpBNB's main advantages include extremely low gas costs (as low as 0.2 gwei) and reduced transaction costs (as low as $0.005 per transfer transaction).
