How KEKE Drivers Can Achieve Ownership and Control

In many cities across Africa, drivers of three-wheeler passenger vehicles—commonly known as "KEKE" in Nigeria and "Pragia" in Ghana—face an uphill battle. The majority don’t own the vehicles they drive. Instead, they lease them from owners who require daily payments, placing pressure on drivers to not only cover the lease but also fuel costs, sometimes even emergency repairs out of their daily earnings. At the end of a long day, many drivers are left with barely enough to take home. Savings? Almost impossible. Ownership? Even further out of reach.

The Harsh Reality of KEKE Drivers

Drivers in the KEKE community are hardworking, often logging long hours in the scorching sun or pouring rain. But, despite their efforts, many struggle to build a better life because they are caught in an exploitative cycle. For example, a driver might pay daily for years, not just to lease the vehicle but to cover fuel and maintenance costs. All the while, the owner reaps the profits. Worst of all, if an owner decides to sell the vehicle, the driver—who has spent years keeping the vehicle running—is left with nothing, watching their dreams of ownership evaporate.

There are countless stories of KEKE drivers unable to save enough to buy their own vehicles, constantly on the edge of financial disaster. The lack of a structured path toward ownership or long-term financial stability leaves them in a cycle of dependency. They work tirelessly, but the system doesn't reward their dedication with the opportunities they deserve.

Unrealized Potential

The KEKE community is young, ambitious, and vast. Yet, there’s no clear pathway for these drivers to achieve self-sufficiency, organize their collective power, or leverage their numbers for better financial opportunities.

The 3 Wheeler Bike Club

This is where the 3 Wheeler Bike Club comes in. Born out of the need to liberate KEKE drivers from a life of hardship, the club’s mission is to transform their lives by bringing them onchain, where they can finally take control of their future. The club empowers drivers to contribute to a community fund, build their reputation, and create a sustainable future—all from blockchain technology.

No longer will drivers have to watch their hard-earned money disappear into the pockets of vehicle owners. Through the 3 Wheeler Bike Club, drivers will have the chance to:

  1. Make payments with the goal of vehicle ownership: Instead of endlessly paying daily fees, drivers can now direct their payments towards owning their vehicles. With each payment, they move one step closer to achieving true ownership.

  2. Access loans from the community fund: The club’s treasury—funded by contributions from members—will offer drivers the opportunity to request loans based on their reputation. This could be for personal needs, vehicle maintenance, or even to buy a new vehicle.

  3. Participate in governance: Community members will decide how the fund is used. They'll collectively choose which vehicles to buy, how to distribute funds, and how to best support members in their journey towards ownership and financial independence.

A New Era

The 3 Wheeler Bike Club represents a radical shift. Being a KEKE driver is no longer just a job to make ends meet—it’s now a path to empowerment. The days of working endlessly for someone else’s benefit are numbered. In this new system, drivers are more than just workers; they are owners and decision-makers.
