To reduce the difficulty of RF front-end development, mobile phones running openrf 1.0 will be launched this year

Recently, according to overseas media reports, an executive of the open RF Association disclosed to the media that mobile phones running the open RF 1.0 specification are expected to be listed this year.

With the advent of 5g era, the design and process difficulty of RF front-end have increased significantly. In order to meet this challenge, Broadcom, Intel, MediaTek, Murata, qorvo and Samsung jointly initiated and established the open RF Association (open RF) industry alliance in 2020, which is committed to expanding the interoperability of software and hardware functions on multi-mode RF front-end and chipset platforms to the 5g era to meet customers’ needs for open architecture.

On November 9, 2021, open RF launched open RF ™ Version 1.0.0 specification is the key first step for RF components and modems to establish a mutual communication language.

In general, the standardization work done by open RF can reduce the difficulty of RF front-end development, reduce the development cost and design risk, shorten the product launch cycle, and then improve the product supply chain of mobile devices, which is of great significance to promote the development of 5g industry.
