Push DAO Journey

The attraction of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) is undeniable, promising a new era of collaborative governance and community-driven projects with tangible rewards for contributors. Gozman, one of our more active contributors, was eager to join this movement, and so he started exploring potential DAO projects. Unfortunately, he narrowly escaped a scam project, an experience that made him cautious. In this article he tells us about his experience landing on Push Protocol and becoming a Push DAO contributor.

A friend suggested him look into Push Protocol, and his friend stated that “Push Protocol has the potential to revolutionize communication in Web3.” As a communications person by trade, Gozman tell us that he became very curious about the DAO. After following Push DAO on X/Twitter and joining the Discord channel and attending one of our governance calls, he realized Push Protocol was more than just a project; it was a platform for innovation.

The opportunity to contribute to such a groundbreaking project was too exciting to pass up. With time, he learnt about our weekly governance call. He recall one of our first calls on the platform, when Sixty, the weekly call moderator, announced that Push Protocol was looking for contributors. Gozman indicated interest immediately, and since then, it has been an exciting journey for him.

His experience with the Push DAO onboarding process was exciting, but it was not without its difficulties, which also provided priceless opportunities for learning.

The Onboarding Process

Joining Push DAO was a relatively smooth process. The initial application required a clear understanding of the DAO's goals and my potential contributions. While the application form was comprehensive, it was also straightforward.

The application process consists of four phases with the sole aim of getting new members into Push DAO, and each phase has a set of activities that new members must complete.

Join us as Gozman walks us through how he completed each of the four phases over a period of 11 days.

Phase 1

This first phase is primarily an orientation phase in which you get to know the Push DAO Governance leads. He was also introduced to a dedicated onboarding team. The activities in this phase took him about 5 days to complete and it consisted of the following.

  • Acquire the new-joiner discord role: As he stated earlier, he has already obtained the new joiner role when he first joined Push Discord channel.

  • Introduce himself on the Push Forum: You can find his introduction here.

  • Sign up and attend the next Onboarding Call: The onboarding call introduced everyone to Push Protocol, the Push DAO, and how to become a contributor.

  • Attend the next Push DAO Weekly Governance Call.

  • Subscribe to the Push DAO Mirror blog.

  • Join the Push DAO Contributors group chat on the Push dApp.

  • Read the following Posts:

Phase 2

During this phase, he encountered a few hurdles, but the guidance of the Push DAO onboarding team member Christian was instrumental in helping him to navigate the process and gain a better understanding of the DAO's structure. He became his go-to person or his 24/7 customer support! 😂

In this stage of the onboarding process, it took him 6 days to complete the number of tasks, such as:

  • Introducing himself on the Push DAO Contributors group chat.

  • Like, comment and repost 2 posts from the Push DAO X/Twitter.

  • Make 2 posts/comments on the Push Governance Forum.

  • Opt-in to the Push Protocol and Push Governance channels on the Push dApp.

  • Vote on a governance proposal on the Push Snapshot or vote on a temp-check on the Governance Forum.

  • Get assigned a task in any of the contribution streams.

  • Complete his assigned task.

Phase 3

Complete the onboarding survey form.

Phase 4

Record his participation/contributions using the Push DAO Onboarding Tracker.

Claim his rewards.

Wait for his contribution to be verified.

Completing the onboarding process was fulfilling, and it provided Gozman with the opportunity to receive 300 PUSH tokens.

DAO Culture and Structure

Push DAO has cultivated a vibrant and inclusive community. The emphasis on open communication and collaboration is evident in every interaction that Gozman have had with each member of the Governance Council, in his own words.

The DAO’s structure is designed to empower members to contribute meaningfully, with various working groups focused on different aspects of the project, such as:

  • Content: This involves creating blog posts, articles, social media content, and educational materials to spread awareness about Push DAO and its initiatives.

  • Administrative: This involves managing DAO operations, community engagement, and event planning to ensure the smooth functioning of the DAO.

  • Development: This entails providing technical support, including programming, design, and development activities to enhance the Push ecosystem.

  • Partnerships & Grants: This involves fostering partnerships, scouting and applying for grants, and other opportunities to drive the growth and outreach of Push DAO.

This decentralized approach fosters innovation and ensures that diverse perspectives are considered.

Benefits and Challenges

Gozman told us that being part of Push DAO has been an incredible journey sharing that “the opportunity to collaborate with talented individuals from around the world is invaluable. The DAO’s commitment to transparency and decentralization aligns with my personal values”.

Additionally, the ability to contribute to a project with the potential to disrupt the traditional notification model is incredibly motivating to him.

However, navigating a decentralized organization can present challenges. Coordinating efforts across different time zones and managing multiple projects simultaneously requires effective time management and communication skills. Overcoming these challenges has been a valuable learning experience to Gozman.

The Gozman’s journey into Push DAO has been a transformative experience. The onboarding process was thorough and supportive, setting a strong foundation for his involvement. The DAO’s culture of collaboration and innovation is inspiring, and Gozman continues excited to contribute to its continued growth. As the project evolves, he is confident that Push DAO will become a leading force in the web3 ecosystem.
