Talus x Vistara: Hardware Orchestration Layer for Smart Agents

We are thrilled to partner with Vistara, the universal hardware orchestration layer. Vistara’s Hardware Availability Layer is a decentralized network that democratizes access to CPUs, GPUs, and storage. Ultimately, this partnership will provide the computational efficiency necessary for smart agents to execute complex onchain transactions at scale.

Building Towards Multi-Agentic Workflows

Talus is creating the AI Smart Agent Hub to serve as the universal deployment engine for composable onchain smart agents. Using the Move programming language, developers will be able to create powerful smart agents for a vast range of use cases. This is especially necessary for high-frequency trading where Talus agents make real-time buying and selling decisions.

When multiple agents within a workflow need to come to consensus on these decisions, they will have to parse through large amounts of market data in separate workloads. Each of these workloads requires different computational environments, where a singular GPU would have to be dedicated for each instance. This leads to suboptimal utilization of compute resources and drives up costs for all stakeholders involved.

AI Smart agents within a workflow perform various tasks and make decisions based on real-time data by coming to consensus on these decisions. Agents need to run an array of AI models to gather, process, and analyze market data, generate predictions, and execute decisions. Each of these workloads requires different computational environments, with a dedicated GPU instance or a split GPU with multiple virtualized instances.

Enter Vistara. With its decentralized Hypervisor –  a monitor that can create isolated virtualized environments – Vistara enables Talus smart agents to run multiple tasks on one GPU. Furthermore, during times of high activity, Vistara can provision more computational resources to Talus smart agents, ensuring consistent performance.

Diving Into Details

Vistara’s hypervisor allocates computing resources such as CPUs, GPUs, and storage across a distributed network. Talus agents then interact with Vistara’s APIs to manage computing resources dynamically. These APIs handle requests for initiating workloads, scaling resources up or down, and releasing resources once tasks are completed.

This speeds up the deployment process of tasks required by the smart agents. It also simplifies the management of hardware resources and their life cycles by creating isolated, secure, and lightweight virtual machines (MicroVMs or Unikernels).

The hypervisor also allocates resources based on performance metrics, ensuring that Talus agents operate at optimal efficiency.

Here’s an example:

  1. A group of smart agents are deployed to trade a crypto asset.

  2. Smart agents check prices, trading volumes, sentiment, and macro indicators.

  3. Computational workloads for each task are fed through the Vistara hypervisor.

  4. Hypervisor creates workflows for each agent and each task running in parallel.

  5. Agents receive actions, come to consensus, and execute the trade.

Looking Ahead

Together, Talus and Vistara are building smart agents that can transact at peak performance to better execute user goals. Dedicated computational environments will enable more efficient  GPU utilization, lower costs, and improved performance. The results are more powerful smart agents that are better equipped for a vast range of applications.
