SFC launches consultation on proposals to regulate virtual asset trading platforms

Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission launches consultation on proposals to regulate virtual asset trading platforms. The Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission stated that according to the new licensing system that will come into effect on June 1, 2023, all central virtual asset trading platforms that operate in Hong Kong or actively promote to Hong Kong investors will need to be licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission. Consultation ends March 31.
