What is a fulfilled life? Is there actually something like that? I know of a person whose Father in Law (FIL) is in the hospital bed and it is not looking too good. The persons’ (not the FIL) wife is feeling all stressed and depressed. From my previous conversations with that family and my acquaintance, I never felt that this lady really like her dad. But now when he is into possibly in the last days, this lady is fretting. She is not able to see her parents as she herself is rehabilitating from a surgery and lives Down Under, while her dad is all the way up in X. which is a good 20 hour flight journey.
Would you say that the old man has had a fulfilled life? When he was more hale and healthy he didn’t actually enjoy the love and care of his children (yes none of them actually adore him much, they do love the mom however). Now in the last few days - his son came and met him and went back to the country where he works. One of his daughter who lives in another country as come to visit him and is currently with him. The old man is not very keenly aware of it though because his consciousness is slowly going off. He has one more daughter (total 4 children) who is again in another country, who has not been able to come either. She too needs to travel about 20 -24 hours to get to X.
Would you call this life fulfilled?
