The Creator Experience in Web3 Social(Fi)

The Creator Experience

During the early phases of social media, creators were at the mercy of centralized platforms, keeping them stuck on their platforms despite providing a less than ideal experience. However, with social media growing and evolving throughout the years, new shiny alternatives are popping out everyday, and instead, platforms are trying to find ways to retain creators.

Therefore, JamFrens believes that the way forward would be transitioning from a “Platform First” approach to “Creators’ First” approach to retain and attract new users. After all, it is known that for most Social Platforms to work, we need Creators, and one of the core focuses should be what we term the “Creator Experience”.

The heartbeat of a platform lies within the creators on it, hence, JamFrens identified several ways that we can better support these high quality creators.

Creators should be incentivized when creating high quality content that keeps audiences engaged and interested on the platform.

The Current State & Future of Social Assets

Each creator on a social network has what we term as “Social Capital”, and their work in what we term as “Social Assets”. Currently, the showcase of these social assets is typically a NFT mint, and there is currently no liquid marketplace to trade them, resulting in it being stored away and gradually forgotten.

JamFrens redefines the concept of “Social Assets” & “Social Capital”, by allowing them to be traded easily, in a liquid marketplace. No longer are these contents being stored away. Instead, good content will be amplified and easily discovered by even more users. Furthermore, through interactive forms of gamification within the platform to keep users engaged, it will also bring in various types of new users who will contribute to the Creator Ecosystem.

Gated Chat Rooms - A Fren or Foe?

Differentiating ourselves from other SocialFi platforms, JamFrens feels that gated rooms for “keys” results in creators needing to put in extra work and time to generate “out of the norm” content as they feel an obligation to these key holders. This is caused by the unintentional impression that the gated room is the main utility for these keys.

Furthermore, this could be a double edged sword effect where creators’ may eventually generate repetitive content, leaving their audiences unsatisfied. This is not what we envision the utility of a JamFrens key to be, although if there is such a need for a gated room service, BUIDLers can certainly BUIDL alongside us permissionlessly to provide such a service.

We envision a future where these keys could unlock a greater and bigger potential and creating a whole new ecosystem by itself.
