Apple plans to dismantle the steel security fence of the apple store retail store in Portland

According to Apple insider, the apple pioneer place retail store in Portland may soon dismantle the steel fence erected after riots and robberies and replace it with transparent polycarbonate panels.

Since February 2021, the apple store in Portland, Oregon has been protected by a steel fence. At that time, it had been closed for nine months, partly due to the blockade of coronavirus.

However, after the riots in George Floyd in May 2020, the retail store was also robbed and damaged. Subsequently, during the protest, a fire broke out in the retail store.

According to Oregon live, apple now plans to replace its tall metal barrier with a “storefront security shell” made of transparent polycarbonate panels. On May 3, 2022, representatives of apple and an unnamed construction company held an online meeting with the downtown Community Association.

“We were very impressed with this project,” said Walter weller, President of the association. “We are very satisfied with its concept.”

“We are happy that Apple will stay in that position,” Weyler continued. “And they will expand their investment in that part of our city.”

It is reported that the proposed polycarbonate structure will surround the store and be placed about 30 inches from the existing glass facade.

Apple reportedly asked participants not to take photos of the meeting. However, an unnamed participant did take a rendering of apple to show the security appearance after the transformation.

In addition, apple donated a black lives matter mural painted on the store barricade to the non-profit organization don \’t shoot PDX in 2021.
