Christopher Molan: Molandak Chronicles (pt. 1)
April 21st, 2024

At the beginning of time, when the Monadia Kingdom ruled the world, life was simpler and more straightforward…

Order was guarded by the Nads, the noble knights of the king, and they were opposed by the Bods, faceless creatures without a soul. Bods tried to infiltrate the kingdom and poison the serene life of the citizens with their stupidity.

Legends have been written around this eternal battle.

Each Nads had its own Molandak, a sacred beast with special powers. His image was on all flags as a symbol of the kingdom's prosperity.

The most ancient Molandaks could travel at 10,000 meters per second. According to legend, the shooting stars are the same sacred beasts that gained a body of light. But that's not what this is about now.

In the sacred grove of Chog, the abode of the Molandaks, an ordinary miracle of birth took place. Momlandak gave birth to 5 offspring, each of which was characterized by excellent health. With the exception of one...

One of the Molandaks was born weak; he could hardly breathe. The caretaker of the grove, Nad, nicknamed Melm, sadly accepted that his pulse was gone. He took his brothers and sisters, wrapped them in cloth and left the grove. But it wasn't a restful night.

Right in the middle of the night, the sky lit up with a purple light, the supreme deity named Mon descended and stroked the skin of the breathless creature.

The next morning, Melm found the creature full of life. It was smiling. Melm thought the wind whispered softly, "The Chosen One". He must have heard it.

The Chosen One?
The Chosen One?

Meanwhile, at the Nads Academy, the future guardians of the kingdom were preparing for initiation. They were to pass an exam and take a sacred oath, and then bind their souls to Molandak.

The two friends, prospective students, discussing the upcoming test.

They were the best of the best, but out of the entire stream of 30 students, only three would pass. They realized that some of them might be left on the sidelines and encouraged each other.

Nads or nots?
Nads or nots?

When the time came to announce the result, it turned out that only one of them would become Nad. One of them failed the test. Full of sadness, he went home and fell into a deep sleep, as he always did in times of stress.

In his dream, he saw a divine violet light, the supreme deity of Mon descended to him and gently whispered two words in his ear, "The chosen one".

The dream did not arouse any feelings in him. He woke up and decided to dedicate his life to his craft. For how long? Time will tell.

He made a promise to himself that he would try again to become a Nad. It should take three years to get another try.

Also, Molandak has to be three years old to bind his soul to Nad. Coincidence? We'll find out in the next chapter of our story.
