AimBots: A retro-looking game with retro-feeling gameplay (Short Review)

The gameplay for AimBots, an FPS battle-royale game featuring robots on maps that seem to take place in outer space is nothing to write home about. It feels like the game has been rushed through development and they released a game just for the sake of releasing one. It’s sad to see that it’s the quality of the first game on their label considering they are planning to make tools for developers to create games. This makes me feel as if all the projects the developers will create using their tools are of that quality and I’m genuinely hoping that they make games that are actually playable.

I like the UI they did for the about page on their website. It’s created to simulate a computer (while and if you’re on a computer when you view it) which is really fresh in my opinion but it’s just a bummer that AimBots felt like the last thing they can come up with their creative juices considering it sets the standard from them as it’s the first game they’ve released.

AimBots' overall gameplay reminded me of Krunker.io except that Krunker has better graphics in my opinion. One might find the art style for AimBots appropriate for the Robots and Vaporwave aesthetic the devs chose, but I think it can come off as a lazy excuse since the maps are barely decorated. It just feels like the flimsy-looking robots are battling in a black box with light strips.

Making the game P2E may be one of the saving graces for the game. It will be using the platform’s $VIDYA as a token which will be used to upgrade your weapons, participate in games, and change your character cosmetics. Although I find it shady that the roadmap and tokenomics are hard to find on their website.

A lot of Play-to-earn titles are being released, especially these past few years. There are plenty of games that are actually enjoyable while still providing the same or even better-earning opportunities as this game and if you are looking for one, I have to say that you can pass on AImBots.
