Take the party game with you in Pong Legends: A Web3 Mobile Game by Artie

Games aren’t limited to what we can play on our devices. There are also classic games that groups of people can play especially at special events and one of them is beer pong. Pong Legends helps enable you to enjoy this anywhere and with fewer people. Developed by Artie, will Pong Legends match the excitement that Beer Pong brings?

Background

There isn’t much information available on Artie’s webpage aside from them being an experienced group of people from different backgrounds including art, music, crypto, and engineering. They collaborate with well-known names in the industry like visual artist Junkyard and music producer duo Take a Daytrip who worked on songs like Lil Nas X’s “Montero”, “Industry Baby (featuring Jack Harlow)”, and” Panini” as well as Travis Scott and Kid Cudi’s “The Scotts”.

Artie wants to incorporate art, culture, music, and gaming into their works and the first project that puts all these together is Pong Legends. A game where you can take your Artie NFTs and use them as avatars inside an online game of beer pong. Artie NFT holders also get to join exclusive events like concerts and parties in real life arranged and organized by the Artie team, and with that much background in the industry, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it includes heavy hitters from the scene.

Graphics and Gameplay

Pong Legends looks like a lot of care has been put into it. The promotional materials alone showcase quality work in both its sound and graphics. It’s on the more cartoony side with their characters often seen resembling animals or totally unique creatures in general that appear both cool and cute. Even the backgrounds of the scenes are animated well to encapsulate the feeling of streets and parties. They recently released their season 2 NFT collection which contains a new host of characters in the theme of spooky 90s cartoons and they all look great even with the black and white color scheme.

When it comes to the game, it’s still in its pre-alpha phase and only holders of the Artie NFTs are able to participate. Although the game trailers from their YouTube show that it will be a 1-on-1 game of beer pong where you need to hit the cups from the enemy’s side of the board to score a point and whoever clears the enemy's cups wins. Aside from this, players will also have a special move to take down the enemy's cups.

Upon its release, Pong Legends will be playable without the need of installing an app. You can play inside your browser or social media with just a link that they would make available on social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok. These links can also be used to invite other players or your friends to fight with you directly.

Earning Potential

It’s not yet clear if the game is going to be play-to-earn, although the team said that there is a chance to win NFTs if you’re skilled enough to be at the top. Their first collection sold out in less than 1 hour. As of the time of this writing, the floor price for one of these Artie collectibles is 0.498 ETH and they named this project the Artieverse so there may be more in store for people who would like to buy into their art collection.

Final Thoughts

With its NFT characters and music, it’s clear that the creators have put a lot of effort into this collection and I believe this will be the same for their game. It is a good thing that it’s planned to be Free-to-play in the future so more people can try it out. Although the game is packaged very nicely, I can’t help but feel a little worried since they do not display their team or their roadmap on their webpage. Even though they want to be secretive about their releases, I think it will be important if they can at least put those on their site as most of the projects in the crypto space are built on trust and more people can find their project easily.

Overall, I believe there is a lot of potential for Pong Legends and Artie in general. If you are looking for a game that you can play with your friends with good music and art, then I think waiting for Artie and keeping an eye on it will be worth your while.
