Make Dragons go zoom in Dragon Kart: A Play-to-Earn Racing Game

Dragons are mythical creatures that have fascinated a lot of people for ages. But you know what’s more fascinating? Dragons racing with other animals in Go Karts! This is the gameplay of Dragon Kart, a new GameFi title that brings together high-speed racing with wacky battles. Let’s take a look at this fun-filled game and see what it’s all about.

Background

Dragon Kart is a battle racing game built in the Binance Smart Chain. Based on a popular cartoon character PikaLong originating from Vietnamese artist Thang Fly (who is also the creative director for this game) they carried the popularity of the beloved Zalo (Vietnam’s WeChat/Viber) sticker into an intersection of GameFi, DeFi, and NFTs.

Graphics and Gameplay

Featuring cute animals in cool and sometimes wacky-looking cars brings a lot of cute energy into this battle racing game that’s reminiscent of the beloved Mario Kart as well the popular KartRider Rush games where you need to race against other characters and pick-up boxes that contain weapons like water balloons, attack drones and even missiles which can help you deter other players from passing you or boosts like a can of nitrous and a shield so you can get yourself into that first place finish with ease.

Dragon Kart offers many game modes which include:

  • Person Versus Person - Outdrive 9 other players in this competitive game mode.

  • Person Versus Computer - It’s like PVP but you match with computer-controlled characters in this game mode

  • Practice Mode - A free mode where you can practice your driving skills and polish it up before your matches.

  • Tournament mode - A higher stakes PVP mode with even higher rewards for the best racers.

Metaverse - Take your NFTs for a spin inside the Dragon Kart metaverse!

Although the game looks cartoony with its bright colors and exaggerated animations, don’t be fooled as it actually takes a lot of skill to be able to consistently get that top-spot finish. You need to be mindful of proper speeding, drifting, and even proper usage of your skills and weapons as well as timing them to when you need them most as well as mastery of the 3 different maps currently available. With all of this combined, Dragon Kart creates a fun game with a high skill ceiling while having good replayability that you may find yourself engrossed in for hours on end.

Earning Mechanics

Dragon Kart uses $KART as its native token. It’s a BEP-20 token with a limited supply of 100 million tokens on which every transaction inside the game will be used. KART can be earned by playing the game. You get to earn more as you finish in the top three spots of each race. This can be used in the game’s marketplace to buy Characters, New Cars, cosmetics, weapons, and mystery boxes. You can also earn passively by staking the coins for yield farming. Earning is also available for Free-to-play players, but you need to be skilled as only people in the leaderboards can earn the sweet rewards.

Final Thoughts

Coming at a time when other Play-to-Earn games like Axie Infinity and Cryptoblades are booming, I think Dragon Kart could’ve gotten more love when it was first released. It is one of those NFT games that are actually fun and not just being advertised as something you can profit from. Although I think it could’ve had more game modes here and there so players don’t get too fatigued from doing the same things in the same 3 maps it has on rotation.

Overall, if you are a fan of battle-racing games, cute animals, or just want a new racing game to pick up, I recommend giving Dragon Kart a shot. It is an exciting game with lots of skill expression and you can make dragons go zoom on this wacky but entertaining play-to-earn game.
