Tatsumeeko: From Discord bot to unique MMORPG project

Projects that include a magical world are often not too far in gaming. They’re able to help people escape from reality for just a while and be transported to a fantasy world where a lot of things are possible. One such project is Tatsumeeko; a project that started as a fun addition to Discord servers to gamify their tasks is now trying to step up and create an immersive world that you can play from your phone or straight from the application they created.

Background

In Tatsumeeko, you are a traveler in the world of Ielia, a world where magic coexists with the people and other races living in its world. Ielia is filled with a lot of mysteries and activities that the players can partake in, like going through adventures, completing quests, going on dungeon raids, and all the fun MMORPG stuff we’ve come to expect! Tatsumeeko is a multi-chain metaverse idle MMO RPG that started on the Solana and Ethereum blockchain seeking to create a rich game with social mechanics. The last known release date was Q3 of 2022 but their roadmap hasn’t been followed all too closely.**

A quick read on its whitepaper and you will see the well-thought-out plan for the world-building they are planning to make with the game along with its customizable avatars you can use in the game as well as changing classes. This project from Tatsu Works is led by David Lee, Benson Chua, and other industry veterans with experience in games and animation.

Graphics and Gameplay

Although the graphics for their promotional materials look like they came straight out of a recent anime, the in-game models use a 2D pixelated art style that compliments the tiles used to make movements inside as it resembles the gameplay of Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem. The gameplay is done automatically based on the character stats and actual gameplay is limited to text commands in Discord while waiting for its mobile release.

There are also multiple game modes available once the game is released. Ranging from PVE modes like Overworld battles, Cooperative missions like Boss and Dungeon Raids, and expeditions. There are also more laid-back activities like Fishing, Farming, Mining, Crafting, and customizing your Avatars to make them more to your liking. Then there’s also the PVP Ladder Tournaments if you’re serious about being the best in the land of Ielia.

Earning Potential

Tatsumeeko will use a two-token model consisting of both $MKLN and $IGS tokens. $MKLN which stands for Meekolony is the governance token and will give its holders voting rights. $IGS which stands for Ielian Global Standard is the utility token and is mostly used as the reward in most of the game modes. You can also stake your Meekolony NFTs for some $IGS which can later be used in the game or traded for real-world money when the game is released.

Final Thoughts

I’ve seen a lot of GameFi projects that use Discord to reach out to their users for information on its releases and I think having an actual game you can play when there is downtime for projects you are waiting for is brilliant. I believe this is the first project of its kind on the blockchain and that’s why the success of this game will prove to be an important milestone for play-to-own and blockchain games in general. I really enjoy its world-building, but I think that the developers failing to meet their own roadmap is a red flag.

Overall, Tatsumeeko is a great game to keep watch for. As it’s still under development, there is a lot left to be known in this game so keep this under your radar if you are keen to play this Discord application turned Play-to-own MMO RPG when it’s officially out.
