Celebrating 1 Year at Bello

It's hard to believe that it has already been a year since Bello was born! Today, we are excited to celebrate our ETH Amsterdam anniversary which started it all, and reflect on the incredible journey we've had since our inception.

Bello was founded with the aim to challenge the way web3 creators use onchain data to grow and monetize their communities. And today, we're proud to say that we've helped many creators achieve their goals and built a vibrant community of Bellonians (YOU) along the way.

In this blog post, we'll be sharing our reflections on the past year, highlighting some of our achievements and milestones, and looking forward to the future.

How It All Began

Bello started with a simple idea – empower the new generation of creators with onchain data. This idea was born from a realization that co-founders Adam Levy and Ellie Farrisi had while reflecting on their experiences in the web3 ecosystem.

Adam had distributed over 15,000 free podcast NFTs, but he lacked the proper tools to understand who his audience was and what they wanted. Ellie, on the other hand, had worked with web3 creators and witnessed the challenges they faced in understanding and engaging with their communities.

Together, they realized that if creators had more insights into their collectors, they could create better content and find more aligned ways to monetize their community. This realization sparked the idea for Bello (which at the time was called Creatorsight). We brought together a small team of hackers, and we built our idea within 48 hours at 2022’s ETH Amsterdam. Surprisingly, we became finalists in the hackathon, which gave us the validation and confidence we needed to pursue our vision.

After ETH Amsterdam, we scrapped the initial hackathon version and spent countless hours brainstorming, designing, and building the platform from scratch, working tirelessly to bring our refined vision to life. And after months of hard work and dedication, we finally launched Bello’s private Beta into the world.

Since then, Bello has grown beyond our wildest dreams, helping creators achieve their goals and building a vibrant community of Bellonians. But at its core, Bello is still the same simple idea that we started with – empower the new generation of creators with onchain data.

Our Achievements and Milestones

Bello's first year has been a wild ride filled with significant milestones and achievements. Here are a few:

Helped creators earn over 275 ETH ($500,000+) using our dashboards and tools
Processed nearly 1,000,000 collector addresses searched by curious creators
Shipped 20 curated metrics, 7 insightful dashboards, and no-code data tools
Strengthened Bello's online presence by growing our Twitter to over 11k followers
Secured a spot in a16z's Crypto Startup School out of 8,000 companies
Built a diverse and talented team of 5 Shroomies

Challenges We Faced

While we've achieved a lot over the past year, we've also faced our fair share of challenges. Building Bello during a bear market was (and still is) difficult, as market conditions were tough and financial support was scarce. At the same time, we were faced with external challenges like Luna and FTX collapsing, making it even more challenging to secure funding.

Despite these challenges, we remained committed to our vision and continued to build and improve Bello's platform. There were a few moments where we questioned whether or not we'd continue Bello's run, but we were determined to persevere. Fortunately, with the help of organizations like DoraHacks, Polygon, and Lens Protocol, who provided us with no-strings-attached grant funding, we were able to keep going.

Looking back, these challenges taught us valuable lessons about resilience and determination. They also showed us the power of community support, and we're grateful for all the organizations and individuals who believed in us and supported us through our toughest moments. As we move forward, we remain committed to delivering value to our users and creators, and we're excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Looking to the Future

As we look to the future, we're excited to continue building upon the strong foundation we've created over the past year. We're heads down, preparing for the next era of Bello, scaling our operations, and adding more talented team members to the familia.

We're also excited to announce that we'll be having our first team offsite in Newport Beach to set the stage for the next few months to years under the spore. We're committed to delivering even more value to our users, helping creators achieve their goals, and building a vibrant and supportive community of Bellonians.
