Recently, Xiamen Education Bureau issued measures to strengthen family education in primary and secondary schools in the new era. It is necessary to build characteristic schools for family education. May is the “family education Publicity Month”, and the head teacher is also required to make a full family visit at least once a school year.

The notice of Xiamen Education Bureau on strengthening family education in primary and secondary schools in the new era points out that this is to implement the relevant provisions of the family education promotion law, further promote the innovative development of family education guidance in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen, and improve the quality and level of family education. The family education promotion law came into effect on January 1 this year.

The circular sets a goal for the family education work of primary and secondary schools in Xiamen: by 2025, implement 100 typical cases of family education, build 100 characteristic schools (parks) of family education at or above the municipal level, and the family education guidance service system of primary and secondary schools in the city is leading in the country.

Set up family education lecture hall

The notice said that “family education lecture halls” at the municipal, district and school levels should be established to provide students’ families with universal family education guidance services no less than 10 times a year.

At the same time, it is necessary to run parent schools well. Parent schools in primary and secondary schools are required to organize at least one family education guidance and one family education practice activity every semester. The kindergarten parent school shall organize at least one family education guidance and two parent-child practice activities every semester.

According to the introduction, Xiamen will be set up every May as the “primary school education month” for primary and secondary schools in the city. The publicity month is mainly carried out through special lectures, theme class meetings, newspaper bulletin boards, publicity columns, campus WeChat official account and so on.

Improve the teacher home visit system

The notice points out that it is necessary to improve the teacher’s home visit system, that is, the school should seriously implement the home visit system, take the development of home visit work as an important part of the assessment of head teachers, subject teachers and mental health education teachers, and establish a full family visit system.

The specific measures are as follows: in principle, the head teacher should carry out at least one off-line family visit every academic year; Other teachers shall visit a certain number of students at home every year, and the specific number shall be determined by the school. In addition, school leaders, head teachers, subject teachers, family education experts and mental health education teachers are encouraged to organize group, project and follow-up home visits.
