SenseiNode is now running a SuperNode for Pastel Network! We are super excited to be part of the infrastructure of a NFT focused blockchain.
If you are into non-fungible tokens, especially the artistic ones, you can’t miss out on learning about Pastel!
Let’s get on it!
Pastel is focused on NFTs with the goal to provide certifiable authenticity, permanent storage and insignificant fees.
The infrastructure of this L1 provides other blockchains, dApps, or enterprises to protect creators and collectors by certifying the rarity of a document or digital collectible.
Pastel is an open network of p2p nodes, which makes it entirely permissionless, that also integrates Open-API standards and cross-chain interoperability.
This network uses a multi-layer blockchain for its consensus mechanism, meaning that it combines Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake technology.
The nodes in the PoW consensus will agree on the state of the blockchain and the SuperNodes will operate with network incentives to prevent economic attacks.
The underlying algorithm that’s the key for pastel to come to consensus and ensures that users are unable to double spend their tokens.
Pastel uses Equihash for block mining, this technology requires miners to go through a computationally intensive race of trial and error to find the nonce for a block.
Proof of Work provides a robust security to the network.
This mechanism is based on SuperNodes, these are powerful validators servers backed by staked collateral with PSL token and nodes that host full copies of the blockchain.
These validators provide a unique second layer to the network for advanced services and governance on the blockchain.
The second layer provides an additional level of performance, functionality and security, and the SuperNodes will verify together the output and monitor the state of other SuperNodes on the network.
The operators of the SuperNodes are highly committed to provide custody and validate the network, therefore they also have the opportunity to vote on key ecosystem development and growth initiatives.
The SuperNodes will earn fees from the Block Rewards, currently the 20% of TBR (this will change after each halving), and from the Transaction Fees, received from successful operations like NFT registration, NFT activation or OpenAPI actions.
SuperNode Fees are intended to align the incentives of network operators, reward ongoing good behavior, and increase network participation.
You can learn more about SuperNodes and how to set up one here.
Full node that validates transactions and blocks on the network. These nodes help the network by accepting transactions and blocks from other full nodes and then validating them.
Besides, they support:
Wallet management
Send/Receive PSL
PastelID Management
End-user facing PSL ticket functionality.
Full node that has a storage layer client of the network and it provides users with intermediate access to it.
This allows them to
Register NFTs
Search for NFTs
Message
Handle OpenAPI requests
Like we explained before, is a full node that acts as a execution layer of the network. These are like the servers to the WalletNode clients.
This node provides:
Permanent storage with Cascade protocol
Detects near-duplicate NFTs with Sense Protocol
General NFT Functionality.
Sense is the protocol that allows SuperNodes to detect near-duplicate NFTs on the network. It is built to assess the relative rareness of a given NFT against near-duplicate meta-data.
The protocol works with a score number between 0% to 100% that determines if the NFT is identical to an existing NFT or is not even similar to any known NFT.
- This could really solve the inconvenience of intellectual property in the NFT world.
The system determines the rareness of an NFT by generating a unique "NFT fingerprint vector" using deep neural networks, which captures the high-level abstract content of the NFT. This fingerprint is then compared against a database of existing NFT fingerprints to assess similarity and rareness. The process involves complex statistical measures and machine learning techniques to accurately identify near-duplicates and calculate a rarity score, taking into account not only the uniqueness within the network but also across the broader internet.
Here you can find detail information about Sense and more examples to fully understand its technology.
Cascade is a protocol developed by Pastel for permanent, highly redundant, and distributed data storage with a one-time fee. It addresses the limitations of on-chain storage in blockchain networks, especially for Web3 applications with high-data fidelity like digital art and Metaverse assets, which typically require off-chain storage.
Cascade uses advanced technology like RaptorQ fountain codes to break data into redundant partitions, distributing these across network SuperNodes. It utilizes a Kademlia DHT algorithm for auto-distributing partitions to randomly selected SuperNodes, ensuring a fault-tolerant system without centralized architecture. Each partition is identified by a SHA3-256 hash and stored by the nearest SuperNode. The network features self-healing capabilities, allowing for the reconstruction of lost data chunks using original data and a random seed contained in the artwork registration ticket, ensuring long-term data preservation.
If you’ll like to deep dive in the protocol, here there is more information.
In conclusion, SenseiNode's integration as a SuperNode for Pastel Network marks a significant step in strengthening the infrastructure of this NFT-focused blockchain. Pastel stands out with its dual-layer consensus mechanism, combining Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake, and its dedication to certifiable authenticity, permanent storage, and low fees for NFTs. The network's unique architecture, including CoreNodes, WalletNodes, and SuperNodes, each plays a vital role in network operations, ranging from transaction validation to advanced NFT functionality.
Pastel introduces innovative technologies such as the Sense protocol, which uses deep neural networks to assess the rarity of NFTs and prevent duplication. This protocol is a breakthrough in protecting intellectual property in the digital art space. Additionally, the Cascade protocol offers a robust solution for permanent and distributed data storage, critical for high-fidelity Web3 applications.
These features make Pastel Network an attractive platform for NFT creators, collectors, and enthusiasts, promising enhanced security, authenticity, and functionality in the NFT market.
