Alex. Poolathon

The Library of Alexandria was one of the greatest libraries of the ancient world, housing a vast collection of knowledge and manuscripts. If the library had not been destroyed by fire, it is likely that many of the texts and manuscripts it contained would have survived to the present day. This would have had a profound impact on the development of human knowledge, as many important works of art, science, and literature would have been preserved for future generations to study and learn from.

Alex.

Alex. is an incentivized archival platform that leverages the immutable and permanent data storage of Arweave. By collecting and organizing web pages, documents, and other digital artifacts; Alex. creates a comprehensive record of our digital history that is preserved forever.

There are two main user groups for Alex., operators and contributors. Operators create pools, which are curated collections of information for any given topic. Contributors can then contribute $Ar to these pools, allowing the operator to start archiving digital artifacts (currently tweets and Wikipedia pages).

Users are incentivized to make $Ar contributions by receiving digital artifacts sent to them as 1/1 NFT’s. The greater the contribution, the higher probability that the contributor will receive the reward.

This is the continuation of the dream that was the Great Library of Alexandria. In order for us to move forward and continue making better decisions we need the ability to clearly see our past.

Always accessible. Never changing. Never deleted.

To celebrate the release of Alex., we are hosting a ‘Poolathon’ to incentivize pool operators to create the most impactful and useful pools. This will run through until January 18th, 2023.

Prizes

The top 3 pools with the most artifacts mined will receive the following prizes:

The pool with the most $AR contributed – 2000$

The pool with the most artifacts mined – $2000

Impactful pools – $100 worth of $AR

How it works

Pool Operator

To deploy a new pool, follow the instructions in the guide here. You will need a basic understanding of Command Line Interfaces, an Arweave wallet with a small amount of funds on it, and have node and npm installed on your machine.

Pool Contributor
