According to the China Table Tennis Association, on April 21, the ITTF world ranking working group held an online exchange and discussion. Li Xiaoxia, a former national table tennis first sister and Grand Slam winner, was invited to participate and appeared in the work of international organizations for the first time.
The group was established with the approval of the 2021 ITTF Annual Congress. Its members include representatives of the Executive Committee of the ITTF, representatives of the athletes’ committee, representatives of experts from state-level and member associations, employees with ranking and commercial affairs experience of the ITTF, and individual technical members of the ITTF. The main work of the group includes reviewing the policies of the world ranking system, providing athletes with a fair opportunity to improve the world ranking, and providing professional suggestions to the Executive Committee of ITTF.
Recommended by the China Table Tennis Association and approved by the Executive Committee of the International Table Tennis Federation, Li Xiaoxia became a full member of the group as an expert representative. In the online communication on the 21st, the working group discussed important issues related to the core interests of athletes, such as the composition of existing world ranking points, point events and point protection.
