In November last year, during a 3-day hackathon hosted by BNB Chain in Istanbul, the Zypher Network team took the top spot with their game Crypto Rumble.
Recently, Zypher Network announced significant progress in its ecosystem, launching Zytron Pioneer, a high-performance Layer 3 platform for #ZK-powered games on the Layer 2 network, Linea. Crypto Rumble, enhanced with new features, debuted as the flagship game on this platform.
Crypto Rumble is a blockchain-based RPG + match-3 game with engaging gameplay. Unlike similar titles, it uses Zypher Network’s server abstraction model, fully implementing Web3 capabilities.
Built entirely on-chain, Crypto Rumble doesn’t rely on centralized servers. Assets, gameplay processes, and results are all verifiable on the blockchain, ensuring fairness, transparency, and true asset ownership for players.
Supported by Zypher Network’s ZK-powered technology, the game ensures a secure and verifiable experience. With integrated native AA accounts, it offers a seamless, gas-free on-chain experience, making Web3 gaming accessible to a broader audience by removing crypto-native complexities.
Crypto Rumble combines match-3 mechanics with SLG (strategy) elements. Players must strategically assemble a team of heroes, plan their formations, and maximize block-matching efficiency to achieve victory.
Hero Selection & Equipment
Players choose three heroes from their roster and equip them to enhance specific attributes. Each game aims to defeat the opposing boss.
Match-3 Combat
Players clear blocks by matching colors. Cleared blocks trigger hero attacks on the boss, with damage increasing based on the number of blocks cleared.
Turn-Based Boss Fights
The game is turn-based. Players must defeat the boss within a limited number of moves; otherwise, the challenge fails.
The game features 9 heroes, categorized into three attributes: Mage, Assassin, and Warrior. Each hero has stats such as attack, defense, agility, and stamina. Stamina depletes during battles and requires $Diam tokens to replenish.
Heroes can be upgraded from level 1 to 100 using experience points and in-game currency ($Gold). They also have three quality tiers: Normal, Elite, and Legendary. Upgrading hero quality through $Diam tokens significantly boosts their attributes.
To acquire heroes, players open mystery boxes purchased with $Diam. Each box randomly provides a hero with one of three attributes and varying quality levels. Mystery box rewards are also available through staking campaigns, like Zypher’s Treasure Ark Campaign.
Heroes can be further strengthened by equipping them with hats, weapons, and shoes, which also come in Normal, Elite, and Legendary qualities.
Both heroes and bosses have attribute matchups:
Warrior > Assassin.
Assassin > Mage.
Mage > Warrior.
Matching a hero’s advantage against a boss grants a 50% damage boost. Conversely, mismatched attributes result in a 50% damage reduction. Strategic hero selection and equipment play are crucial for success.
Crypto Rumble offers three game modes:
In PvE mode, there are two modes, Challenge Mode and Hero Mode, and players need to consume 100 stamina each time they participate.
Challenge Mode is similar to the level, currently contains a total of 30 levels, the higher the level, the higher the BOSS attack power and the higher the blood level, the more difficult the challenge, of course, the higher the rewards, players need to continue to upgrade the level and quality of the heroes to defeat a higher level of the BOSS.
Hero Mode doubles the attributes of defeated PvE bosses, and the rewards for defeating these bosses are increased accordingly.
2. World Boss Mode
Word Boss Mode is similar to leadboard event, players need to pay 1,000 $GOLD tokens to get a ticket to participate in this mode, when participating in the game, players can choose up to 3 heroes to fight against the World Boss, each time the player challenges, the battle will last for 3 minutes, the system will be ranked according to the amount of damage caused by the players to the World Boss at the end of the battle.
The World Boss mode opens according to seasons (seven days per season), and the reward pool for each season is 90% of the user’s total entry fee. When rewarding, the system will adopt the mining ranking system, i.e. all users participating in the World BOSS Battle can mine according to their ranking and get rewarded.
3. PVP Mode
PVP is the multiplayer online Arena mode which allows multiple players to participate and fight against each other. In which each player chooses 3 heroes to participate in the battle, after selecting the betting amount: 100 $CR/500 $CR/1000 $CR (governing tokens), and selecting the auto-matching system to find the PvP opponent.
The game is played within a 3-minute limit, where players compete based on the damage they inflict on the BOSS, and at the end of the time, the player who inflicts more damage on the BOSS wins. The winner will receive 90% of the amount wagered and the platform will charge a 10% fee, while the winner will also receive an additional PK reward of $CR.
Match-3 games are simple yet challenging, with a massive global audience of over 800 million players, making them highly accessible. Meanwhile, SLG games attract loyal players who value strategy and long-term progression.
By combining these two gameplay types, Crypto Rumble mitigates the repetitive nature of match-3 games with SLG’s depth and strategic elements, creating a more engaging experience.
Web3 games often struggle with high costs, poor experiences, and inadequate infrastructure. Zypher Network addresses these challenges using ZK technology and its Zytron engine, which enables fully on-chain gameplay.
ZK Proofs: Player actions are aggregated into ZK proofs, reducing gas fees and ensuring smooth PvE gameplay.
z4 Engine: Supports PvP with stateless game rooms for scalability, fault tolerance, and high performance.
AA Account Integration: Provides a seamless, gas-free experience akin to Web2 games, ensuring broader accessibility.
As a standout in the Zypher Network ecosystem, Crypto Rumble combines innovative gameplay with blockchain technology, positioning itself as a leader in Web3 gaming. Backed by Zypher’s advanced infrastructure and integrated with the ZK technology, Crypto Rumble is poised to redefine Web3 gaming and bring a new wave of gaming to players.
