RSC Song Writing Camp 'い'

RANDOM SOUND COLLECTIVE (RSC) hosts Song Writing Camp ‘い’ on 21st - 23rd March 2022.

Song Writing Camp is the artists and producers bring together to concentrate on songwriting in a short period of time.

RSC is going to sell the songs as NFT created through Song Writing Camp い.

Our Goals and Questions

In addition to creating songs, the objective of this camp ‘い’ is to clarify how artists can utilize the possibilities of web3.

Our goals are to deepen the learning process for artists and music professionals who want to challenge web3 by sharing their ideas and innovations with the community by selling music to NFT.

Since 2021, artists in Europe and the United States have been using music NFT to create new models of funding, creative freedom, and new connections with fans.

We believe that artists will have great opportunities by utilizing web3 technologies and mechanisms, especially music NFT.

Many artists may have heard about NFT through news, Twitter, and other social media, but feel that the world is somehow out of touch with them.

The RSC wants to put the artists first, to encourage change through web3, and to liberate artists from financial constraints so that they can focus on their creative work.

To achieve this, we have the following goals and questions

  • Achieve sustainable creative activities using the technology made possible by web3 Why publish your work at NFT?
  • How artists, fans, and NFT collectors can participate in web3
  • How to best provide web3 skills in technology, marketing, community development, etc.
  • How NFT should be integrated into traditional music activities and music business
  • How NFT connects fans and artists, collectors and manages communities
  • How should the benefits and perks be designed for NFT purchasers?
  • If NFT includes any rights to a song, how should it be designed?
  • How should the distribution of NFT sales revenue and earnings be disclosed?
  • How will the artist's DAO be managed?

There are no quick answers. The right answer might be different for each artist.

We will continue to think, experiment, and explore together with the RSC community.

Artists

The artists on ‘い’ are Tomoki Kiuchi, CJ Li.

Message from Tomoki Kiuchi

It was last summer that I noticed that Apes, CryptoPunks, and art were being used more and more as Twitter icons after seeing the news that NFT's digital art was sold to the highest bidder.

‘just a jpeg. I can save it by right click.’

It was last fall when my friend said, "Music NFT, it's pretty interesting.“

When I saw the news about artists in the world utilizing NFT to sell their music for tens of thousands of dollars, I started looking into it.

I bought ETH, created Metamask, and bought my first NFT art.

I joined the Discord for the music NFT projects and saw real conversations between artists and fans and collectors.

Through this experience, I realized that by utilizing web3, I could create in a sustainable way.

I feel that web3 could be a solution to many of the issues that I have experienced in the music industry over the past 20 years.

However, many people in the music industry, including myself, have no idea what web3 is and are not ready to make a move.

Therefore, I started the RSC in the hope that by actually challenging in this world myself, I could serve as a guide for artists who want to jump into the web3.

In the process, I would like to clarify the following questions

  • What kind of activities should I do in web3?
  • Why do music NFT as an artist?
  • How do we manage the technology, marketing, and community management necessary for web3 activities?
  • How can NFT be combined with traditional music activities?
  • What is an artist DAO?
  • How will web3 change the relationship between fans and artists?

We can not answer these questions in this Camp alone.

As a musician, I would like to challenge myself.

I also hope that by seeing how the songs are created in this Songwriting Camp, they will become more favorable.

At the Song Writing Camp, we will collaborate with each other and bring our specialties to experience a chemical reaction that I am sure all participants could not have imagined.

We want everyone to feel that moment together.

One of the things that artists want from their fans is empathy. There is something special about spending time with fans with whom you can share your own expression.

I strongly want to support artists in their web3 endeavors.

I want to create good works. Thank you for your support.
