On January 8, 2013, I attended Unplugged conversation with Larry Robbins, Robin Hood Board Member and Founder and CEO of Glenview Capital Management, at RobinHood NYC headquarters. In 2012, I dived into a nine-month-long process of determining matches in RobinHood's over 200 programs to be placed, and #SERVE as a member of P.Y.T. Philanthropic Young Things. 

After listening to Larry Robins speak, humble, family-oriented, pull up your sleeves, work hard, and sure, he can write a check. Yes, AND, he took the time to advocate for #KIPP over lunchtime. What he said echoes to this day as authentic. Giving is more than transferring Treasure; it is giving Time, Talent, and Testimony. 

This week is Teacher's appreciation week! I would add a 5th T. Teaching. KIPP is the journey started in 1995 by David Levin and Mike Feinberg. Does everyone know about KIPP Academy's first advocacy-in-democracy lesson ("creative diversion")? Knowledge in the curriculum: "citizens participate in their government not only by voting but also by exercising the right to file grievances with whoever was in charge."* 

KIPP is the model I KEEP in MIND to KEEP ON!

I am most grateful for every minute I have experienced in life and for the opportunity of witnessing the living examples of great human stories. Real-life true stories.
