Who is ‘the team’ behind the SciDAO project? As I was inclined to start writing down a short old list with names and LinkedIn links, I started wondering…Who are really ‘we’?

We are a bunch of guys and gals who are in the web2 space, and therefore, we are used to use our curricula, our past achievements somehow to prove we are capable of transforming the future. But then I thought, what an intriguing and complicated question this is for a DAO.

A Flag

We have raised this flag up for the need of a fairer peer-review and scientific publication system, since we all endure an exploitative, inequitable system in our daily duties as scientists.

A Swarm

Nonetheless, who started all this up? Well, it was one discussion on top of the other that the led the initial individuals to start this SciDAO community, a few PhDs, some crypto enthusiasts, a guy who left the Pharmacy course in the fifth year to dedicate himself to study bitcoin and blockchain a few years back, all dreamers.

Having in our flag a swarm, we are united in adamant towards a common goal to change the scientific publishing as we have known so far.

As we speak, the direction the SciDAO movement will take is being defined by the individuals who join, one after the other, and will contribute with their ideas and actions in favor of a self-governing, collaborative, transparent and of shared economy community. In the making.
