The Shanghai Yunnan Lingang Kunming Science and technology city project jointly built by Kunming area of the free trade zone (Kunming Economic Development Zone) and Shanghai Lingang group was officially launched. The Kunming area of the free trade zone (Kunming Economic Development Zone) will also jointly establish China as a digital economy innovation center with Huawei Technology Co., Ltd.

The Kunming Science and technology city project of Shanghai Yunnan port came into being under the pattern of “Shanghai Yunnan cooperation and East-West cooperation”. On the basis of the agreement on deepening the cooperation between the people’s Government of Kunming and the people’s Government of Shanghai on May 14, 2026, based on the “agreement on deepening the cooperation between Kunming and the people’s economic and trade zone” signed by the people’s Government of Kunming (the people’s Republic of China) and the people’s Government of Shanghai, and taking the advantages of Kunming (the people’s economic and Trade Zone) as the carrier, the agreement on deepening the cooperation between Kunming and the people’s economic and Trade Zone (the people’s Republic of China) as well as the “five, Jointly promote the high-quality development of Lingang Kunming Science and technology city project.

Lingang Kunming Science and technology city is located in the Qingshui area of Kunming area (Kunming Economic Development Zone) of the free trade zone, which is located in the intersection area of the main city, airport economic zone and Chenggong New Area, with a total land area of 242000 square meters. It will become a new model for Park cooperation between Shanghai and Yunnan and a landmark, radial and demonstration park in Southwest China. According to the method of “land acquisition and commencement”, the project is planned to complete the preliminary preparations for the commencement of the project within the first quarter of 2022, and officially start the construction before the end of March. The construction period is one and a half years. It is expected to be completed and put into use in September 2023.

The digital economy innovation center in Kunming area of the free trade zone (Kunming Economic Development Zone) is the first digital economy innovation center established by Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. in the national pilot free trade zone. The Management Committee of Kunming area of the free trade zone (Kunming Economic Development Zone) and Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. invested 120 million yuan to jointly build it.
