tayf3rd started the original viral dance culture without ever doing the dance himself, but there's much more to his Long Beach story. Tay is from hallowed ground in the rap game, the same city that brought you Snoop, Warren G, and Dogg Pound.

Tay is a longtime protege of Snoop, and Big Boy, la’s most prominent radio host. his crew, Pushaz Ink, not only started jerking but launched the careers of YG, Ty Dolla $ign, and DJ Mustard.

but the makings of the young legend began at home…

Tay grew up and still resides in Long Beach's Cambodia Town and his father is full Korean, making Tay one of the internet age's first prominent Asian American rappers. his mother raised him in a musical household, establishing his appreciation of the art form.

his unique perspective on the LBC streets and party life he came up in inspired his beginnings in music. a diss song directed his way led Tay to produce a clapback of epic proportions, locking in a love for rap he hasn't forsaken since.

nowadays you see artists everywhere putting numbers in their stage name, but Tay originated it. pronounced Tay F Third, it combines his given name, a crew he came up with (Filthy), and a nod to his neighborhood.

In 2009, tayf3rd innovated the fast, high-pitched, drugged-out, humorous flow synonymous with jerk music that still influences so much of what we hear today.

Tay and YG set out to take up this mantle together, but when YG went to jail, it was on Tay to hold it down for them both.

Tay linked with yet another los angeles hip hop media legend, DJ Felli Fel, who remastered the song Tay had originally recorded in a cereal box ("lucky charms...there was a hole in it," Tay recalls). When Felli Fel put out the remastered version, it went giga viral…

…and the rest is West Coast history.

true to form, Tay maintains purely verbal agreements with his reps at Uncle Snoop's Army and Big Boi Media. to this day, Tay has never signed a record deal and retains rights to 100% of his music.

though new to the web3 market (i refuse to call it a community), Tay’s cut from a cloth of independence, individuality, originality, and experimentalism that makes him perfectly suited for it.
