Intro
InstanHack 2022 was a three-day hackathon that took place during Istanbul Blockchain Week, providing developers worldwide with an opportunity to showcase their skills and build Web3 applications.
Gear and Impulse DAO partnered up to introduce an exciting and unconventional Hackathon track.
The track featured Syndote, a game that challenges developers to design and create a smart contract that represents an in-game strategy. To play, developers must utilize their Rust expertise to craft a winning game plan.
Syndote game
Syndote is a game that operates entirely on the blockchain, with no backend or centralized components. The user interface interacts directly with the smart contract.
To play the game, players must design and build their in-game strategy using a Gear smart contract, which is essentially a program in Gear terminology. The Master Contract oversees the session, registering the contracts strategies as input and running the entire game session in just a few blocks or 2-4 seconds.
The goal of Syndote is to become the wealthiest player through strategic buying and property
Thanks to the Gear protocol, the game session can run entirely on-chain in just a few blocks (2-4 seconds). Players can then review the game rounds step-by-step using the Master Contract execution log.
One unique feature of the Gear protocol is the gas reservation, which enables autonomous start of the game session. This unlocks several innovative use cases for building smart contracts.
