For expectant mothers, every prenatal ultrasound examination is very expected. At the same time, there are many puzzles: should we do three-dimensional or four-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound in the second trimester of pregnancy when we encounter “large row malformation” (i.e. systematic prenatal screening of the fetus)? What is the difference between two-dimensional, three-dimensional and four-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound? Listen to Lin Qizhi, chief physician of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University.
Two dimensional ultrasound prenatal examination: the first choice for orthodontic treatment
Two dimensional ultrasound is sectional imaging. Although it is not three-dimensional imaging, it has high resolution, so its ability to judge fetal malformation is much higher than three-dimensional imaging. The two-dimensional image is the fundamental basis to judge whether the fetus has malformation, and the final examination conclusion is also derived from the two-dimensional image. Therefore, although two-dimensional ultrasound is not stereo imaging, it has high resolution and is the first choice for fetal malformation screening.
Three dimensional ultrasound prenatal examination: more three-dimensional
Three dimensional ultrasound can provide three-dimensional images of fetal face or other parts. It is an auxiliary means of two-dimensional technology. When the fetus is found abnormal in two-dimensional examination, three-dimensional ultrasound can be used to further verify the fetal development.
Three dimensional ultrasound can make up for the limitations of two-dimensional ultrasound and help ultrasound doctors make more accurate judgments, such as malformations of fetal body surface structure (such as cleft lip). Three dimensional ultrasound can be presented more intuitively and stereoscopically, and can better evaluate the prognosis.
In addition, the three-dimensional image is three-dimensional and intuitive, which is easier to be accepted by pregnant women and their families, that is, the so-called first picture of the baby, which meets the emotional needs of pregnant women and their families.
Four dimensional ultrasound prenatal examination: icing on the cake
The four-dimensional is a “dynamic three-dimensional” formed on the basis of three-dimensional. Its dynamic image can let prospective parents see the activities of the fetus in the uterus and promote the cultivation of parent-child feelings. Generally, two-dimensional technology is used for examination first. If fetal abnormalities are found, three-dimensional and four-dimensional probes are further used for scanning to confirm the fetal condition. Therefore, the core of fetal systematic prenatal screening is two-dimensional ultrasound, which is the basic means. Three-dimensional and four-dimensional ultrasound can improve the cognition of three-dimensional level on the basis of two-dimensional, which can be described as “icing on the cake”.
Experts pointed out that the above three kinds of prenatal ultrasound examination have their own advantages. When it is unnecessary, it is not necessary to do four-dimensional examination. Remind expectant mothers to avoid ultrasound examination for a long time and many times to prevent unnecessary consequences. (correspondent Cui Yuyan, reporter Yang Yan)
