May 1st, 2022

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chairman Grossi said on April 23 that Ukraine has asked the IAEA to provide a “comprehensive equipment list” required to operate Ukrainian nuclear power plants during the Russian Ukrainian conflict.

Reuters reported that the list includes radiation measurement equipment, protective materials, computer related auxiliary equipment, power supply system and diesel generator.

Grossi also said in a statement, “we will coordinate the implementation of the assistance provided by the IAEA and its member states and transport the required equipment directly to the nuclear facilities in Ukraine.”

It is reported that at present, 15 reactors in four nuclear power plants in Ukraine are in operation, of which 7 reactors have been connected to the power grid, including 2 reactors in the zaborore nuclear power plant controlled by the Russian army.
