Apple CEO Tim Cook has agreed to deliver a speech at the galaudet university graduation ceremony. It is reported that galaudet university is an educational institution specializing in teaching deaf, blind and deaf students. Galaudet University made a public confirmation through a brief twitter exchange on Saturday and shared a video featuring undergraduate speaker Molly feanny. In the video, feanny invited cook to speak at the 152nd graduation ceremony of the school on May 13.

The invitation lasted more than a minute. Feanny used American sign language, and the video was also subtitled and voiced. Feanny called cook “a great visionary and leader” and said the University was honored to invite him here to speak to them.

It is mentioned that the event will be the first planned on-site graduation ceremony since covid was held at galaudet University. The acclaimed Apple TV + film “coda” was also mentioned, as well as the company’s support for the University’s deaf community.

In response to the invitation, Cook said on Twitter: “I’m honored! See you then!” Not long after, Marlee Matlin, a member of coda, wrote on Twitter: “I am very excited, Tim! I am very happy. For you and \galaudet university students.”

After the twitter exchange, galaudet University also released an official press release, including university president Roberta J. Cordano praised cook. “Tim is an outstanding visionary and one of the truly great CEOs of our time. There is no doubt that he will leave a lasting mark on future generations. As a leader of one of the world’s most admired brands, Tim has demonstrated a strong commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, representativeness and accessibility - values that are important to our galaudet community and many other underrepresented groups 。”
