On November 13, “tuna Yinghua - Chen Xiangbo Works Exhibition” officially opened in Xiamen Baolong Art Center. This exhibition is another masterpiece after “tuna Yinghua - Chen Xiangbo Works Exhibition” of China Art Museum.
The curator Zhu Xiaojun analyzed that “tuna Yinghua” in the name of the exhibition came from the 27th part of “body nature” in “literary mind and Carving Dragons”. He believes that the pursuit of Chen Xiangbo’s creation is to write spirit in form and have both form and spirit. In fact, all the creative results are the expression of the author’s inner temperament. “Tuina Yinghua” is the praise and love of life for nature and the extension of the connotation and significance of Chen Xiangbo’s creation.
The exhibition is divided into three parts, namely “objects”, “sincerity” and “heart”, with nearly 90 works on display. It focuses on the latest fine brushwork created by artist Chen Xiangbo, industrial ink, freehand brushwork full of ink and Zen line drawing works.
Artist Chen Xiangbo pointed out that the innovation of works cannot deny their own culture, but should present the essence of traditional culture in a “new” way with an inclusive and open mind, so as to promote Chinese culture. In this exhibition, artist Chen Xiangbo actively participated in the new media art interaction, bringing the digital ink and wash interactive art device of the work “Xuan · Sheng” to debut. Taking the abstract ink and wash “Xuan” series works as the basic elements, combined with the form of Chinese traditional scroll paintings, and using modern digital new media interactive technology, he interacted with the audience on site, so as to make the traditional culture “live” in the modern era.
Chen Xiangbo once said, “Chinese painting never takes realism as the ultimate goal, but a freehand art, which is determined by the characteristics of Chinese culture and the aesthetics of Chinese people. Freehand brushwork is the fundamental feature of Chinese art, the artistic method and national characteristics of Chinese art, and meticulous painting is no exception.” The artist has his personal interpretation of the two painting styles of fine brushwork and freehand brushwork, which is “creating new ideas in the law”. “Tuina Yinghua - Chen Xiangbo Works Exhibition” will be open to the public free of charge at Xiamen Baolong Art Center from November 13, 2021 to December 5, 2021.
