As the NFT ecosystem continues to attract attention, there are a growing number of artists who are not familiar with the technology, utility, or process of creating and launching an NFT project but are open-minded and eager to experiment with this new medium.
Onboard an artist to the NFT medium who has no previous experience working with blockchain technology and has exclusively created art in non-digital formats.
Preliminary Research and Foundational Knowledge
Perform initial gap analysis with artist
Use preliminary research to guide an initial gap analysis with the artist, identifying what their goal(s) are for the project as well as assessing their familiarity with NFT technology and tools.
This analysis will provide a general understanding of where to start the artist’s onboarding process, where they want to end, as well as give DAOYOU some basic parameters to use when performing more detailed needs analysis.
Begin Detailed Needs Assessment(s)
Perform an exploratory interview, building off the information learned in the gap analysis and preliminary research.
Discuss various NFT development options, formats, and deliverables.
Initial interview objectives include:
What purpose is this project going to serve for artist.
Baseline web3 understanding/education needs
Tasks to be performed
Infrastructure needs (wallet, accounts, etc),
Dependencies (how to transfer art, budget, etc)
Marketing/communication plan
Chain/NFT development decisions
NFT design and options (utility, etc)
Anonymity requirements/concerns
Develop Roadmap
Develop a detailed roadmap with milestones and tasks listing every step needed to meet the artist's objective.
Anticipate timelines and document start/end dates for each task, milestone, and/or phase.
List any dependencies or potential roadblocks that need to be addressed before a successful kickoff
Go/No go decision.
Project kickoff
Begin executing roadmap items
Document as we go (BIO updates in State of the Chain)
Publishing detailed report-outs at the end of each phase
Adjust roadmap as needed.
While the main objective is aligned with the artist's needs, DAOYOU’s secondary objective is to use the entire experience as an opportunity to “learn by doing”, and document lessons learned. Secondary objective deliverables will include:
Step by step guides
Template/checklists
Research reports to onboard to NFTs for a visual artist in similar circumstances
