The Need: Better professional/business development opportunities in web3

As the web3 industry evolves, so does the size and complexity of the ecosystem supporting it. This growth brings exciting and innovative ways of using blockchain technology in our everyday lives. Unfortunately, this growth also brings about some inevitable growing pains such as poorly managed treasuries, lack of adequate security, communication barriers, and siloed expertise. These vulnerabilities contribute to an excess of scammers, rug pulls, and a growing number of avoidable incidents plaguing all corners of web3. There is an opportunity to address these vulnerabilities through the development of the tools, best practices, and professional expertise needed to identify the problems and build the solutions.

Our Solution: DAOYOUniversity

DAOYOUniversity is a cooperative, experiential learning and professional development platform. DAOYOU is designed for people working in web3 who want to experiment with, develop, and share best practices with each other and the blockchain industry at large. Our mission is to build a community of professionals across the spectrum of industry expertise who are committed to ushering in the next generation of success in web3. 

Initial Projects

Projects will be built as much as possible using web3-native tools, while honestly assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of these solutions. Projects will maintain a focus on transparency and openness while doing what is necessary to protect our members and organization against nefarious actors and legal liability.

As we generate interest and participation in the community, there will be opportunities for individual members and groups to propose their own projects and contribute to others. 

Blockchain BIOs - Addressing industry needs through projects that are Built In the Open

• Individual or group projects that encourage professionals to “learn through doing”, “real world” problem solving, and reporting their results. 

• Each project will identify an industry need or objective; develop and propose a plan to meet the objective; execute, evaluate, and report on every step of the project. 

• At project completion, the project team will create and publish a detailed debrief report on the outcome, lessons learned, and any tools/templates/resources that were developed during the course of the project.

• These reports and tools/templates/resources will be saved for use and adaptation in future Blockchain BIOs and other community projects.

State of the Chain - Bi-weekly status report on the state of the web3 industry

• An at-a-glance resource for web3 professionals who want to stay current on the state of the blockchain industry.

• State of the Chain will be a bi-weekly report published on Mirror.xyz, Twitter, Medium, and Linkedin curating the most up-to-date news, opinions, and trends impacting the web3 industry, as well as updates on DAOYOUniversity projects and community input. 

• Reports will go out Sunday and Wednesday each week. 

• Sunday editions will include a brief synopsis of the trends and major stories from the previous week, embedded Blockchain BIO updates, and any other community-generated content that is available to publish.

• Wednesday editions will be a truncated mid-week supplemental report, providing primarily links to the emerging news and trends that week.

• One Sunday a month, in addition to the normal Sunday content, we will include more in-depth status reports on the progress and lessons learned for any BIO projects currently in production. The monthly edition will also include any interviews with industry professionals, op-eds, or other community-created content that has been submitted and approved.

• Every edition will include a “Community Corner” input form (embedded google form that can be filled out anonymously or signed by author) where we ask a question or solicit feedback from the community of subscribers and readers. Relevant and appropriate responses will be published in the following edition.

Community Engagement - Calls, Presentations, Debates, and Networking events

• We will hold scheduled community deep-dives where a topic will be presented,  members will be given time to research and discuss asynchronously, and will then be followed by a facilitated conversation, presentation, or debate.

  • Conversations, presentations, and/or debates which are deemed to be valuable enough to disseminate will be published for a wider audience. 

  • These can take place behind NFT gated discord voice channels, twitter spaces, zoom/webx, and VR depending on community interest. 

• As the community grows, we will offer more frequent opportunities and a variety of options for community engagement.

Proposed Roadmap

Phase 1 - Soft Launch, Analysis, and Infrastructure Development

• Publish DAOYOUniversity Proposal (this document) 

• Publish State of the Chain Report

• Launch first Blockchain BIO project (NFT Onboarding)

• Solicit Community feedback and input on DAOYOU proposal & State of Chain Report

• Build/launch DAOYOU Community infrastructure (website, discord, NFTs) 

• Soft launch and open invite for Founding Community Membership opportunities

• Begin interviews and op-ed/analysis of industry for State Of the Chain report.

• Ongoing analysis and documentation of progress, roadblocks, solutions, and lessons learned

• Iterate/adjust roadmap to complete phase 1 goals 

• Identify next steps and transition to Phase 2

Phase 2 - Community Development and Project Proposals

• Begin Founding Community Member discussions 

  • Evaluate mission, goals, roadmap, and discuss/establish values etc. 

  • Define and assign founding community member roles/responsibilities/categories

• Finalize and publish a detailed DAOYOUniversity Whitepaper.

• Begin Community calls/deep dives

• Start accepting new project proposals

• Complete first Blockchain BIO project (NFT Onboarding), document lessons learned and tools/templates/training created, publish debrief and toolkit. 

• Publish proposal for next Blockchain BIO project. 

• Ongoing analysis and documentation of progress, roadblocks, solutions, and lessons learned

• Iterate/adjust roadmap to complete phase 2 goals 

• Identify next steps and transition to Phase 3

Phase 3 - Community Output and Next Steps

• Evaluate and implement general community management/governance structure and growth/scaling plan 

• Begin Community-led Blockchain BIOs 

• Launch resource library 

• Ongoing analysis and documentation of progress, roadblocks, solutions, and lessons learned

• Iterate /adjust roadmap to complete phase 3 goals 

• Identify next steps and transition to Phase 4 (if applicable)
