Hey there Nekozens,
The maintenance earlier today was for us to check for suspicious activities, and also push some small UX adjustments (like the confirmation pop-up for surrender button). It’s good that no auto-farm bot activities were found, which means apparently a lot of players have been playing between 8-12hrs a day with a very short game duration, which confuses the security system (detected the activities as farm bots).
While we are flattered that players like the game so much to dedicate that much time playing, it’s not very good overall since playing that fast and in a long period of time will actually affect the overall game experience & the learning curve for players: less time spend on strategizing & picking the right resources/items for best outcome, and get tired of the game quickly and churn.
Ideally, we wouldn’t want that to happen. City of Greed is a game of strategy & luck that provides a light brain tease for players whenever they can have time to play in their busy day, and players can always come back for that experience.
Therefore, today we’re introducing a small feature to pace the progress of players: Energy System.
Each account will have a fixed 20 plays on play-to-earn mode per day.
The energy will reset every day at 0 AM UTC.
With an average game time of 15-20 minutes, 20 games are already equal to 5-6 hours of playing with your lands. For a normal player, this shouldn’t affect your game experience at all.
Energy is not related to Richness, so it does not affect the current earning ability of players.
By limiting the number of play-to-earn runs per day, the perceived importance of each run is increased. As players will pace their decision-making progress to make each run count and/or spend more time in training mode, which ultimately leads to a better game experience and outcome of each run.
The feature will be live later today. A short maintenance (15 minutes) will be executed to push this feature to Mainnet at 1:00 PM UTC today.
Thank you and have fun in City of Greed!
