With the update concluding in a few days, we’re entering the phase 2 of City of Greed with the product getting more refined and mechanics to attract organic player growth are in place. With the $ASG price increased by 5x, we’re now reworking the overall pricing for the game as well lol (hopefully in time before the maintenance end). More importantly, the project has reached the point where I can share more about Phase 3.

If you’ve read through our docs, you can notice the Boss Fight & ETH drops features are already in the roadmap in the beginning. They will be the focus of Phase 3, as when we implement Boss Fight & ETH drops, there will be significant changes in gameplay system and reward system.

To keep it short, Phase 3 is when we use a % of our tax to fund the ETH reward pool for players, remove $ASG emission from the game, and make the token model DEFLATIONARY overtime.

Curious? Here’s the details:

City of Greed’s Phase 3 will see a significant gameplay update:

• Boss Fight will be introduced, when reaching late game, the Mayor will actively attack your board to hinder you from making the next tax. This enhances the gameplay by giving the players a dynamic challenge.

• Game will no longer be a limitless game. After defeating the boss, the game will end, thereby making the game objective very clear for players (Win/Lose objective).

• The game reward model will no longer be taking ASG profits after paying tax. Instead, each time a player defeats the Mayor, players will have a chance to earn an ETH package drop of various values.

With this update, the economy inside the game will also change:

• The ETH drops will be funded by a % of our tax, so as long as $ASG remains traded, this reward model will keep working.

• Enrich System will be removed. Players no longer need to purchase Enrich Potion and replenish their richness to play the game.

• All the game spending will be priced in ETH, which also means ASG will no longer be the currency in-game. This time, a portion of the in-game spending will be used to buy back and burn $ASG continuously, and the rest will be sent to fund the reward pool as well.

• With this model, ASG emissions from the game will also be removed entirely.

What does it mean for players?

• Players only need to spend 1 time to participate in play to earn, by minting Land NFT (which is also in ETH). And since there’s no richness system, there’s no risk of lost ROI wise. Keep playing and you’ll have as many chances for drops as you like.

• Prices will be more stable as in-game purchase will be in ETH. Which makes it easier to onboard players.

• The reward pool will be continuously be replenished by tax from token trading, ensuring continuous rewards for players, for as long as there is trading volume for ASG.

What does it mean for token holder?

• Although ASG will no longer be used as in-game currency. Our game sink will be in ETH, and a % of in-game spending in ETH will be used to buy back and burn $ASG continuously.

• With the emission of ASG from the game also removed, ASG will enter a deflationary model (no emission, constant buyback and burn from in-game spending). The more players, the more in-game spending, the larger the buyback and burn.

• And don’t forget, holding $ASG will also give you revenue sharing (1% tax).

Now there’s a reason why we don’t introduce this game model right from the start. It is simply because we need to bootstrap the economy and awareness about the game first so that the tax amount gets to a sufficient level to be able to sufficiently fund the rewards in Phase 3. With that strategy, all the systems that give out free plays (Zealy, past auto-recovery, onboarding questions, invite friends) are design to efficiently incentivize people to join and play the game and help bootstrap the economy, which you can already see the effects from our past stats. We’re been hitting strides recently so Phase 3 will come sooner than planned (fingers crossed, we’ve been dev-ing non-stop haha).
