In the fall of 2021, our two founders realized they had both been sexually harassed by Ryder Ripps, and began to collaborate on the project now known as RR/PAPERS.
We are going public with our stories using tools and methods of our choosing. Typically, survivors attain credibility by presenting their cases to the authorities or in the media, which require a survivor to dox in order to publicly defend the truth of their accusations. We didn’t know about mirror or the anonymity of cryptocurrency until researching Ryder’s NFTs, but hope that this platform will help us achieve our goal of exposing Ryder’s crimes without sacrificing our personal privacy and safety.
Through our networks, eight other women who were physically, sexually, or emotionally abused by Ryder joined the project and have contributed evidence to our growing archive of evidence.
Sexual assault is difficult to prove in criminal cases. While a civil lawsuit would allow us to pursue “damages” for the harm Ryder has caused, given Ryder’s skill in manipulating the media and public opinion to his own advantage, any sort of publicized legal campaign might fail and would threaten our privacy and safety. With only circumstantial evidence available, going to court would be extremely risky and offers no guarantee our stories would be believed.
To fight Ryder, we need use his own techniques.
Recently, Ryder launched the RR/BAYC project, and once again managed to stir the pot and generate buzz with allegations about a nazi conspiracy behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT project. Everyone was talking about Ryder Ripps, and another of ‘his’ NFT projects generated millions of dollars.
None of the women involved in RR/PAPERS are experts in blockchain technology or cryptocurrencies, but we are experts in Ryder Ripps’ bullshit. Ryder claims to be defending the values of the blockchain, but he is a liar, and a narcissistic troll who exploits other people for his personal gain. Ryder doesn’t care about any values, he manipulates people because he gets off on it.
Researching RR/BAYC, we started to learn a bit about cryptocurrency. We discovered this crowdfund and blogging platform, Mirror, and developed an unconventional plan. Could we use the same blockchain tools, which Ryder had employed to enrich himself, to publish the archive of evidence we’ve assembled? Could the permanence and anonymity of blockchain technology give us the security that the media and the courts would sacrifice?
For the women who have survived Ryder’s abuse, RR/PAPERS is an attempt to transform the sexual assault accusation from an act that requires public humiliation, and repeated invasions of privacy, into an opportunity to change public perception, and shift some attention away from Ryder’s latest scam towards evidence of his repeated abuse of women. Instead of speculating on Ryder’s latest copy-pasted NFT, please consider funding this project, and help to expose one powerful man’s crimes.
Publish an anonymized archive documenting Ryder’s history of sexual abuse, harassment and manipulation.
Maintain the privacy of all of Ryder’s victims, and avoid the personal, professional and legal risks associated with accusing a well-connected, famous man of sexual assault.
Collect funds to provide support for survivors of Ryder Ripps’ abuse. All funds are split between the women contributing material evidence to RR/Papers.
Our crowd sale will seek to raise a minimum of 30 Ethereum, which will be split between all ten members of our collective. Once our funding target has been reached, we will publish the public archive in full.
