Rhascau is a fully on-chain strategy game deployed on the Arbitrum Nova network, similar to the Monopoly. The first part of this article introduces the basic logic and development history of the game, giving everyone a fundamental understanding of the game. The second part introduces the development team of Rhascau, @mintersworld. Finally, based on a week of in-depth experience, a detailed description of the gameplay is provided to guide players in exploring the game to its full depth.
Rhascau is a strategy game similar to Flying Chess, and its testing is deployed on the Arbitrum Nova network, making it a fully on-chain game. Each game room consists of four players, each randomly assigned a different-colored fighter jet. Players take turns rolling dice to make moves, and the outcomes vary based on the rolled numbers. Additionally, each player has four skill slots, which can be strategically used as needed. When a player's aircraft lands on another player's aircraft, the latter's aircraft disappears. The victory condition is for a player's aircraft to complete one lap around the game board, similar to Flying Chess.
(1) Minters, the founding team of Rhascau, publicly announced their entry into the fully on-chain game industry on November 25, 2022.
(2) On November 29, 2022, the team confirmed that their first game would be deployed on the Arbitrum network and planned for a public test in 2023.
(3) On December 20, 2022, the official release date was confirmed, with the game set to be publicly available in January 2023.
(4) The first public test started on June 5, 2023.
Rhascau is a fully on-chain strategy game developed by the MINTERS team. Under the MINTERS umbrella, there are two other games, Minters World, and Battle for Blockchain. Currently, only Rhascau is undergoing Playtest activities.
According to publicly available information on their official website, Minters World's core team consists of six members. The founder of Minters World is stokasz, who has been working in the cryptocurrency field since 2017 and is currently focusing on developing decentralized worlds and fully on-chain games, with high activity on Twitter. FarathonMW is the game designer for Rhascau, and the team includes four full-stack developers, namely DevGhinter, grzyslaw, MARCINEQ, and MR. JACKASS.
As most of you may already know the rules of Flying Chess, Rhascau is a fully on-chain strategy game similar to Flying Chess, accommodating four players in a room. After more than a week of playtesting, we will provide a comprehensive game tutorial.
Step 1:Rhascau is deployed on Arbitrum. Users can access the game interface through the official website, where they will be prompted to create a wallet on the corresponding network and deposit a certain amount of gas fees. Detailed strategies can be found by clicking the "click" button in the following figure.
Step 2:After creating the wallet, click the yellow button to complete the corresponding steps and deposit the required ETH to create a game character.
Step 3:Once the character is created, you will notice an ETH balance of 0.01 in the top right corner. The game homepage offers three options: NORMAL, LEGENDARY, and PROFILE. The first option is the "match players and start the game" button, the second displays existing rooms and waiting situations, and the third option shows game records, displaying the number of players who have experienced the game, their respective points, and their rankings among all players.
Step 4:When four players are matched, the game starts. Each player will roll the dice during their turn, and different outcomes will lead to different actions. Players have four skills, which they can use strategically to defeat opponents and achieve victory by completing one lap around the game board.
The following are the four skill slots:
Dash skill allows your aircraft to move one grid forward.
ROOT skill prevents an opponent's aircraft from moving for one turn.
BONUS skill allows you to take an additional turn.
KILL skill directly destroys another player's aircraft, but can only be used once per game.
Other game rules: When a player's aircraft lands on top of another player's aircraft, the latter's aircraft is destroyed, but the player's own aircraft remains unharmed.
The game's art style is very appealing, and the UI design is more refined compared to other fully on-chain games.
As a PvP game, the core gameplay logic is not overly complicated, ensuring players' engagement without being unfriendly to newcomers.
The victory condition of completing one lap around the game board is currently straightforward. To enrich the gameplay, additional rules could be introduced.
Currently, the number of players in the game is relatively small. As a PvP game, it requires other players to participate. The matching time can be quite long; during my experience, I even had to wait for over 40 minutes. However, this may be due to the testing phase, and once the official version is released, player numbers are expected to increase, and lengthy matching times will likely become rare.
