Web3 for Africans in Ukraine

Like thousands of Ukrainians and foreign nationals, many Africans, most of whom are students, have been trying to flee escalating violence in Ukraine. However, there have been unsettling reports of Africans facing segregation, xenophobia and racism at the border. Nigeria and South Africa both issued statements denouncing their nationals being stopped from leaving Ukraine.

While some Africans have managed to leave the country to find shelter in Poland, Romania, or Hungary, there are still many who are stranded and need immediate support to leave Ukraine, find shelter, get transportation, or find medical assistance.

There have been several organisations working on the ground to provide Africans and Black foreigners with funds for transportation, medical assistance, food, shelter, and other forms of relief. The most reliable and transparent way at the moment to get those funds to them is through cryptocurrencies.

To this effect, African organisations in web3 are coming together to raise funds for Africans and Black foreigners in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries to provide them with the necessary resources to shelter and get the assistance they need.

Together, we are kicking off a group fundraiser to enable our communities to donate in ETH to this cause. Any amount is welcomed and will go a long way. You can donate today via this Mirror fundraiser or follow the directions below.

Direct donations in SOL (and ETH) are also possible through these addresses:

  •  africansinukraine.sol (DM1Ge1THPGVVcZSpAaxLszj6zdB6D9tBhBGkosQ1o7Mz)
  • and in ETH through this address: africansinukraine.eth (0x8e789E9f8895ef0B0d3d1eBd0a8478ECf8Cdcf80)

The funds raised through this entire initiative will be dispersed to various organisations that have been actively coordinating the dispersion of funds with people on the ground since the beginning of the invasion. All wallet activity can be seen on etherscan and solscan by copying the wallet address into the search field.
