On April 30, Porsche responded to the incident that some vehicles replaced the steering column with electric adjustment function with manual adjustment, “In the second half of 2021, we learned from the headquarters that in order to ensure the timely delivery of vehicles, the steering column equipped with electric adjustment function of some models is replaced with manual adjustment, so as to ensure that the adjustment function of steering wheel position can still be realized after the vehicle is delivered. At the same time, it is planned to restore this function through modification after the relevant chip shortage link.”
However, in the following first quarter of this year, Porsche headquarters decided to cancel the subsequent replacement plan, which aroused the dissatisfaction of car owners.
Finally, the official responded: “we have quickly established a task force, led by Porsche headquarters and Porsche China, to jointly study all possibilities with relevant suppliers and look forward to finding a solution as soon as possible.”
