Algorithmic Trader - DeFi at Wintermute

8 trader assessment batches, about 200 pre-qualified candidates completed screening tests, 40 people did our assessment center and 2 got hired

Interview Process

  1. CV and questionnaire about motivations
    1. evidence of quantitative skills
    2. evidence of coding skills (ideally Python)
    3. motivation, evidence of interest in this role and in Wintermute
  2. Screening tests (round 1, 200 people left, online)
    1. quantitative reasoning test ==> Quant tests is not advanced statistics, it's a high school maths/problem solving
    2. code part by Codility ==> Coding is a Codility test selected and adjusted by our traders that focus on algorithmic tasks
  3. Assessment center (round2, 40 people left, zoom now)
    1. two mental maths tests (trainable)
    2. a set of four 25-minute interviews with traders and developers
      1. maths, probability, coding and experience questions
  4. interviews with management (head of trading, CEO, COO)
    1. motivation and culture fit
    2. understanding of how we are different from competitors (incl traditional mm and quant firms)
    3. trader mentality
    4. team player

RBC quantitative trader

2 interviews of 30 mins, one with the front desk and the other with the quant team and manager.
