Amazon informed Xinguan positive employees: take 5 days of unpaid leave and then come back to work
May 8th, 2022

It home reported on May 1 that in a notice to workers on Saturday, Amazon told its American employees who tested positive for the new crown that they would no longer be paid for vacation. Instead, positive employees will receive up to five days of unpaid leave to recover, and then return to work whether they recover or not. If you want to continue your vacation, you need to use sick leave time.

According to CNBC, the new system is expected to start next Monday.

It home learned that Amazon initially provided two weeks of paid leave for Xinguan positive employees. In January, this leave was shortened to one week or up to 40 hours, and now it has been completely cancelled.

In the notice received by its employees, Amazon said:

The mitigation of the COVID-19, the continuous supply of vaccines and treatment methods, and the latest guidance from public health authorities all indicate that the work policy before the COVID-19 can continue to be adjusted safely.

In addition to canceling the paid leave of positive employees, Amazon will also stop notifying positive cases in its warehouse and stop encouraging employees to vaccinate.

In addition, because fast detection can now be widely used, Amazon will no longer accept “waiting for new crown test results” as a reason for vacation.
