Weekly Designer Spotlight 07 | Alyona Briukhanova

It’s the seventh week of the Designer Weekly Spotlight and for this edition we are featuring Alyona!

Alyona, aka Digital Stylist, has been with the DIGITALAX and GDN community since the very start, taking part in the first auction events on Ethereum back in 2020 and many others since then. She was one of the very first fashion designers globally to be onboarded into web3 and take on this new ecosystem with full force— and all within just a few days of her transitioning from physical to digital fashion! An enthusiastic and remarkable voice within the GDN and broader web3 fashion community, if you aren’t already following her journey, make sure to change that by checking out the links below!

Autobiographical Entry from Alyona

My fashion story began in 2007 with short courses in make up and fashion styling, whilst I was doing a law degree.

So initially it was just a on the side fun thing that me and my friends were involved with, nothing serious. But, I did earn some extra money with styling.

After I graduated from law and started to work in jurisprudence I realised how corrupted the system was, so I just quit.

And, with that, I moved to London to study fashion styling (I love getting degrees haha). I lived and worked there for 3 years in London, conducting various styling jobs, and working for several fashion companies and publications. But afterwards I moved back to the Ukraine.

Back home I started styling and teaching, and, when the pandemic broke down we had to add some courses to the portfolio, to keep the school alive during the lockdown time periods. One of those additional courses was in 3D Fashion design.

I’ve never actually had training in design, so I prefer to think of myself as a stylist. Anyway, I started to work in 3D software and found that I really enjoyed it. So I made a tiny portfolio and arranged a website with the help of my friend.

Just 4 days after the website was published, I got contacted by DIGITALAX. Emma explained a lot about the future ecosystem and NFTs and web3 and the first auction launch. I really got caught up by her excitement, because I barely understood what it all was about 😆.

I just said - I’m in, let’s do it!

And, in December 2020 I had my first NFT auction. This totally turned my life upside down. From here I learned all about NFTs, tokens, Ethereum and the entire space. It was like going down a never ending rabbit hole now 😂.

I’m very happy to be a part of such an amazing and inspiring community and we have some really exciting and challenging things coming ahead!
