Autobiographical Entry from The Islander Studio

The islander studio was founded by Maria Pulido. It’s not just a fashion brand or designer label, but rather also a collective, network and platform for digital fashion collaborators globally. The Islander explores different creative forms around the world of Digital and Phygital Fashion.

As a designer myself, I became interested in the world of digital fashion a few years ago because of the limitless creative freedom it represents. It is exciting to be part of something new that in my opinion is changing not only the world of fashion but actually the very way that we all live— through the metaverse and more.

I have considered myself as a designer since I was a child. It has been my core passion and something I have always known and done. I always faced difficulties bringing what I would ideate out into the real world, taking my ideas into reality, but, when I found digital fashion and started experimenting in this field all of the previous frictions I experienced were gone.

I appreciate details and technical craftsmanship in fashion, which made me fall in love particularly with the intersection between both the digital and physical, and explore further what fashion in this context can represent. I believe in a new Industry of responsible fashion and technology.

Currently, I am working on an exciting new digital collection that is inspired by traditional and futuristic haute couture. Stay tuned for that!
