This series was created to share information and education about teams building in the Polkadot ecosystem. Our guest on this edition is Beamswap. Beamswap launched as an Automated Market Maker (AMM) style DEX on the Moonbeam Network, but has since evolved into an impressive DeFi Hub by incorporating a wide range of additional DeFi products.
Can you share some background on Beamswap?
First of all, thank you for having me, Polkadot Family! Well, for those just reading about us, Beamswap is a DeFi Hub built on the Moonbeam Network. We are a decentralized exchange that provides a suite of services, including an automated market maker, the ability to add liquidity, perform a peer-to-peer swap of fungible tokens, and earn passive income through staking and yield farming.
Our platform also acts as a launchpad for new projects developing on the Moonbeam Network. By providing opportunities for new projects to have a faster lift-off and greater exposure to the DeFi community, we support the multichain vision of the Moonbeam and Polkadot ecosystems.
So, we are dedicated to supporting the growth of the Moonbeam Network ecosystem and community. And we do so by working alongside projects with existing infrastructure looking to bridge into the multichain universe.
What makes Beamswap unique as a DeFi hub?
What sets Beamswap apart is more than just providing a suite of DeFi features and products.
Our first and foremost goal is to build a community and a future where multiple chains work together seamlessly. Our community is really at the heart of what we do, and it keeps providing us with invaluable input that helps us to continually tweak and upgrade the user experience.
What is the current status of Beamswap?
Well, in just one year since launch, through hard work and our community’s support, we have been able to achieve so much. First, a successful IDO and launch on Moonbeam, then the $GLINT Token Generation Event, and soon after, we announced the Multichain-integrated Beamswap Bridge. We also launched Beamswap Gas Pump, which allows users to easily onboard into the ecosystem and utilize our DEX & AMM services, such as yield farming, staking with Beamshare, liquidity locker, advanced trading, and much more.
We should also mention the launch of Beamswap Docks for our first IDO event and automatic burns of $GLINT tokens topped with a Burn dashboard, where anyone can keep track of burn events. The Beamswap Zap feature allows users to turn assets into LP tokens with a click of a button, while the Portfolio tracker lets them easily monitor their funds. And, of course, ongoing UI and stability improvements, together with other perks like a customizable profile picture, all add their share in Beamswap’s path towards a convenient and user-friendly one-stop DeFi shop. But so much more is still yet to come.
What are your vision and goals for the project in 2023?
Our team is super excited about the year 2023, and we can’t wait to share it with our community and the rest of the ecosystem. As for right now, all we can say is that something big is coming to Beamswap, so for everyone reading this, we suggest keeping an eye out for our future announcements.
Do you have any plans for multichain expansion in the long term, both inside and outside of the Polkadot ecosystem?
To date, we’ve established some invaluable partnerships and launched exciting community initiatives and workshops with other incredible platforms. We listed Interlay’s $xciBTC on our DEX and worked with Lido Finance and Mixbytes to bring liquid staked $DOT to the platform. We also brought chaos to Moonbeam with the Raresama Team collaboration and the listing of $POOP token, invited the Beamswap community to participate in Equilibrium’s contests, and frequently held educational AMA workshops for our community to learn and interact with our partners. We are certainly looking forward to connecting and collaborating with some of the other parachains from the ecosystem, and help bring Polkadot’s vast universe even closer together.
Why did you choose to build on Polkadot, and what feature of Polkadot’s architecture interests you the most? Where do you see Polkadot in five years?
We chose to build on Polkadot primarily because of its security and multichain vision. When we look at blockchain networks and think about their potential for mass adoption, we see interoperability and ease of use as potentially the biggest hurdles. But Polkadot, together with its parachains and mechanisms like XCM, will break down walls allowing for networkless or borderless crypto if you will. Looking even farther into the future, we can envision getting to a point where users are using all applications and services without worrying about what network they're on, let alone being aware about using Polkadot. They will just use a website or an app, and everything will work seamlessly.
