If you operate a business which attempts to get new customers or clients primarily from the local market, then occasionally you may win a local award. This could come from a local blog, your Chamber of Commerce, or a regional industry association award.

Should it be appropriate to promote this award online, then here are a few ideas on how to get longevity online from any such honor:

• Create a blog post on your website mentioning the award, linking to official source which confirms that your business earned the honor. Here is one such example.

• Share that blog post and/or the official source confirming your award on your social media platforms. Consider additional platforms such as Reddit, LinkedIn, Mastadon, Threads, and others besides the traditional Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, and TikTok (if you have video footage).

• Write and syndicate/distribute an online press release. Get at least some regional exposure on either local news or regional industry news publications’ websites and/or social media channels.

• If you have video footage then consider posting on a platform like YouTube, optimized for the wording + “award”, or whatever is the appropriate wording for the honor your business received.

• Make a mention of the award, include the link to confirm from the official source, and send it to any email newsletter you may have.

• Add the same to your email signature file, if appropriate. Include a link back to your website’s blog post mentioned earlier.

• If you get featured on any podcasts, make a quick mention of it if appropriate or have the podcast host(s) mention it if you are the podcast episode guest.

• Make a mention of it in the Updates section on your Google Business Profile, otherwise known as your Google Maps listing

• Any other place which is appropriate to post either to reinforce to your existing customer base that your business is worthy of an award, or to help attract new customers/clients/guests due to increased trust in your business.
