The hundred year old plum leaves the rare six petal plum lake state, and there are these plum appreciation places to go
May 15th, 2022

There are so many plum appreciation places in Zhejiang!

Has your city blossomed?

With the appearance of the long lost sunshine, the flower appreciation plan in spring can finally be put on the agenda. This year, due to the lingering rain and snow, many flowers are delayed, including red plum.

Recently, in the “where to play in Zhejiang” channel of the orange persimmon interactive app, many orange friends posted “plum” scenes all over Zhejiang. It turns out that there are really many plum appreciation places in Zhejiang!

Orange friend @ Qiongyao recommended the “Oriental plum garden” in Changxing, Huzhou, his hometown. He said that the plum trees are connected into a piece, which is magnificent. Calling it “Qianli plum garden” is absolutely worthy of the name and is worth visiting.

Fenghua Xinjian village is a popular online plum appreciation resort in Ningbo. Orange friend @ Christmas man said that the plum trees there are mainly distributed on the slopes of the two mountains, mainly red plum, distributed in turn, scattered and decorated on the hillside.

With a faint smile, orange friend @ came to the old street of Jiande Meicheng, climbed the gate tower of the ancient city, and tasted the distant artistic conception of “dark fragrance floating” on the Bank of three rivers. “The name of Meicheng comes from the shape of the battlements at the wall of Yanzhou Fucheng, which is half plum blossom shaped.” In addition, there are many delicious foods in Meicheng. Just look for one on the street, “my favorite food is Meicheng pancake”.

Orange friend @ Jenny asks everyone to go to Baoguo Temple scenic spot in Ningbo to enjoy the “Primula” plum blossom and feel the arrival of the first wave of spring: it is low-key and amazing here. The plum varieties are mainly Chimonanthus praecox and red plum, and the maximum tree age is more than 70 years. Plum blossom and the ancient buildings in the temple complement each other, adding a lasting appeal. Climbing high, nostalgic, appreciating plum, coming here, can be satisfied. On the hillside of Baoguo temple, there is a specially opened Meilin. Most of them are red, and some are still in bud. Don’t miss those who like plum appreciation.

Last week, where to play in Zhejiang recommended two good places for plum appreciation - Wangdian town in Jiaxing and the plum garden near the sea in Taizhou. This time, we set off to Huzhou to explore two secret places for plum appreciation.

Drive 1 hour to Huzhou to enjoy plum blossoms

This hundred year old plum has a rare six petaled plum

It’s more than an hour’s drive from Huzhou to Hangzhou. The first place we visited to enjoy the plum blossom - Tiefo temple is on the bustling labor Road in the center of Huzhou.

Jielu in the human environment, the heart is far from self bias. Next to Tiefo temple is the shopping center of North Zhejiang building. The courtyard surrounded by yellow walls and Daiwa has a feeling of “hiding in the city” in the comparison of glass buildings.

Iron Buddha Temple was built in the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty. It was originally called Kaiyuan Temple and later got its name because it worshipped Guanyin of the Song Dynasty. This statue of Tie Guanyin, together with the Japanese bronze bell given by Hu Xueyan in the Qing Dynasty and the giant monument of the temple of longevity in Tianning written by Zhao Mengfu, a great calligrapher in the Yuan Dynasty, is known as the three treasures of the iron Buddha Temple.

This 1300 year old temple is not large in scale. There are only two halls in front of and behind it, and there are no tickets. Two hundred year old red plum trees are in front of the daxiongbao hall in the temple.

The flowers on the two ancient plum trees only bloomed 30% or 40%. The staff said that it may be because the temperature has been low at the beginning of spring this year. “In previous years, it usually bloomed on the evening of the fourth day of the first month, and the fifth day of the first month just welcomes the God of wealth, so there is a saying of” Xi Mei Na Fu “.

The staff said yesterday that the weather turned sunny and warmed up, and the two ancient plum trees soon entered the flowering period. “It was only four or five days in full bloom, and then began to fall in large numbers”.

A yellow wall, a collar and a black tile, red lanterns hanging high, add a different artistic conception to the red plum in front of the yellow wall.

Although the weather is still a little cold, many photography lovers with long guns and short guns have gathered in the courtyard for a long time. “These two red plum trees are famous in the photography circle. In addition to our friends in the province, Jiangsu photographers will also take photos.” Said Mr. Xu, who came from Hangzhou to shoot flowers.

Mr. Xu is from Huzhou. Now he works and lives in Hangzhou. He goes back to his hometown to shoot plum blossoms at the weekend. “When these two plum trees were in full bloom in previous years, they were really like two red clouds, so that the wall behind them could not be seen.”.

Under the ancient plum tree, another photography enthusiast, Mr. Tang, comes from here. He can feel the plum appreciation land in Huzhou. He said that there is nothing more beautiful than these two ancient plum trees. “The tree shape is strange. At first glance, it is a wild plum species that can not be cultivated artificially.”

The two ancient plum trees in Tiefo temple are famous for their rare “six petaled plum”.

Hu Zhong, a senior engineer at the botanical garden of Xixi scenic spot of West Lake in Hangzhou, introduced that plum blossoms have five, six and seven petals between single and multiple petals. “Why do you think six petals are rare? It’s because snowflakes are also six petals and plum is more strange than snow.”

Speaking of “six petaled plum”, Hangzhou Chaoshan plum forest, which is famous for its three wonders of “ancient, wide and strange”, also has one. This song plum is also one of the “five ancient plum trees in China”. The “five ancient plum trees in China” are Chu Mei, Jin Mei, Sui Mei, Tang Mei and song Mei, of which there are three in Zhejiang.

Sui Mei, planted in Guoqing temple on Tiantai Mountain in Tiantai, Zhejiang Province, has a tree age of more than 1400 years; Tang Mei, in the Daming hall courtyard of Chaoshan, is said to have been planted during the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty; Song Mei is planted in Baoci temple in Chaoshan.

Huzhou also has an ancient plum land

It is said that Du Liniang had a tryst here

Huzhou also has a place to enjoy plum blossoms - located in yunchaowu, Jingai mountain in the south of the city. The car stops at the mountain gate and goes up the gentle slope. Soon, you can see the ancient plum blossom view. The plaque on the front door reads “ancient plum blessed land” in regular script, the winding mountain path, and the towering ancient trees in front of and behind the house are simple and quiet.

When we went, a plum tree in front of the door had blossomed. The flowers are pink and green. The pink plum on the edge of the rockery is particularly brilliant. After the rockery and in front of the yellow wall, it renders the color of the year with pieces of pink and white, dispelling the chill of early spring.

Jingai mountain area, where the ancient plum blossom view is located, has a deep relationship with plum blossom. According to records, plum blossoms have been planted here for more than 1500 years. In Tang Xianzu’s Peony Pavilion of the Ming Dynasty, Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei met at the “plum blossom view”. It is said that the true and false are unknown, but this is still a good place to enjoy plum blossoms.

Unlike the plum blossom everywhere, there is only a small piece of plum blossom here. Although it is not spectacular in quantity, it has a little more Aura against the background of ancient and simple buildings.

The flowers are similar year by year, but the people are different year by year. Year after year, when spring comes, Gu Hongmei gets drunk with the mountains and water in the south of the Yangtze River, and also beautifies a city in the south of the Yangtze River.
